I do still get annoyed by bad low-light performance and no VR (situations like this where long exposure is necessary but I can't strap it down solidly enough so there is a tonne of blur in the dash - partly also due to ghetto attachment rig ).

More contrast? Digital B+W always tends to end up looking like varying shades of grey rather than blacks and whites. That said, some scenes just lend themselves better to colour.
