Little help needed

here's my problem.

I want to use the sound from a video (.mpg) to export it as a sound file i.e. mp3 or wav. How can I do that? I know I can do some kind of recoding using my soundcard as the input, I did that once (even though I don't remember how ) but the quality sucked. So what program can do that for free?

try nandub ..its a free software or TMPGen....u should find them on doom9.net
