Mac Help!! Can't download Torrents?

I just got a new Macbook Pro, downloaded Transmission, but when I try to download a torrent there is no connection. The display box comes up but is not connecting to anything. Does anybody have any suggestions? I am brand new to apple and don't know much yet, maybe I just need to change some settings?
 
It all went wrong for you when you bought a Mac. But since we're nice people here...why not use uTorrent for Mac? http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/mac

Are you having trouble simply downloading the .torrent file or trouble with Transmission to start the download. Screenshot would help.
 
Hahaha :) like i said, i'm new to the Mac, it just started working. I guess it was just waiting for peer support and I was not patient enough.
I was going to try the utorrent for the mac but final gear suggested transmission, and the utorrent is still in beta form. If someone has some experience with it I'd be willing to listen and maybe switch over.
Reading through the FAQ here Transmission was recommended. I just tried it again and it started working, guess it just needed some peer help.

I used transmission for a while but I mostly use Vuze now. It's a bigger program but it tends to download faster and more reliably generally. And don't listen to the Mac haters out there; they're just jealous.

I had trouble with transmission and BitRocket, so I downloaded uTorrent for Mac and it's worked flawlessly. I'm used to the interface as I have it on PC as well. It's very straightforward and simple to use.

I've been downloading the season 13 torrent for 2 days now, is that normal or is that the slow download speed you were talking about from Transmission. I'm thinking I need to download utorrent and try that for the next series.
 
I've always used transmission. It works well.

Taking two days might depend on the size of the file and your connection speed.
 
Taking more than 2 days to download an entire season of a show isn't unusual.
Just thought I'd add my 2 cents by saying that uTorrent and Transmission have a much smaller memory/cpu imprint than Vuze.

Congrats on buying a mac :)
 
Also give "Bits on Wheels" a try. I've found that it d/l faster than Transmission.
