Is there a way to reprogram the default windows hotkeys?

The windows button on my laptop is way up in the corner, so can I make Alt+D a "go to desktop" hotkey?

If you're using a modern version of windows (I know XP can do it, but I don't know about older versions) you can create a shortcut to the desktop and then go into the properties and there is a "Shortcut Key" area, select that and press a button on the keyboard. This will make a shortcut using "CTRL + ALT + Key" If you press shift down when you press the key, it will make the shortcut use "CTRL + SHIFT + Key"

This is all good if you don't mind miscellaneus shortcuts on your desktop, but I guess you could make them hidden.
