marauder

yep, they stopped making them after only a short few years of the car's life...i saw one in the street a few weeks back and it just looks like a mercury grand marquis :thumbsdown: :yucky:
 
The Marauder is basically a fully spec'd Grand Marquis with the DOHC V8 out of the Mustang Cobra and stiffer suspension. I think it could have been a good muscle car, but was hindered by it's transmission (only a 4sp auto) and its high weight (4400+ lbs/2000+ kg). Many also feel the engine was too small for the size of the car. Also, the Panther platform (Grand Marquis & Crown Victoria) isn't the best for handling. :unsure:

But anyway, the Marauder is badass in a straight line. And only in a straight line. Forget corners.
 
well the Marauder VT does the 0-60 in 5.1... which isn't bad at all for car of it's weight... but still i am sure it's not a huge fan of the twisty bits

A lot of those guys came from crownvic.net, and I posted there when I was driving our family's Grand Marquis. That was the first automotive forum I was a part of, and I learned a lot from those guys.
 
^No, LS1 is a GM engine, and Mercury is owned by Ford. It uses the DOHC V8 out of the previous generation Mustang Corbra.
 
well keep in mind the VT has a stroked and supercharged V8 from the Cobra pushing 430bhp it's the special one the base marauder only has 308bhp from 4.6L v8 0-60 in 7.7

I didn't know about the VT package. Was it an option from the factory or is it a once-over from a tuner company? I'm reading an article about it right now, and I think it needs to be mentioned that the 430hp is at the wheels, which works out to 500-525hp at the flywheel. :shock:
 
i think it's a factory option cost like an extra 30k over base... i read about it on the motor trend website while looking for a stock 0-60 time
