Mass Effect 2

while i don't want to sound disrespectful, isn't that just a bit cheating? i mean okay it might make things easier in the long run but it kind of takes away some of the game, especially the ammo thing. many times i've been running low on ammo and gives me a "make each shot count" kind of thrill.

I've already beaten the game on insanity. This playthrough is just about having fun and trying other dialogue choices to see how it affects the rest of the game. Having infinite mineral reserves takes out the grinding bits involved in making another run.

ah i see, fair enough. i had forgotten you completed the game on insanity, i thought there might have been a reason behind it.

Time for attempt number two!

Just completed ME1 again so that all my decisions are relevant in the sequel which I think will make the play through even more satisfying as the storyline follows.
This time round though I saved Kaiden instead of Ashley as she turns out to be a bitch :D

Intruiging to see though that when I import my character it gives a quick over view of previous decisions, one of them lists Ashley as Missing in Action, rather than Killed In Action, perhaps a suggestion that she will return anyway?

been doing the same here, started a ME1 Adept played it through to its conclusion picking up multiple storylines that have a impact on the second game and just started a ME2 playthrough yesterday. On top of that it is a nice touch that they allow us to re-class our Shepards. Changed mine from Adept to a Infiltrator. I trust a sniper rifle and a well aimed head shot over some wibbly wobbley biotic stuff anyday.

i've heard that Kaiden is as much a asshole as Ashley is a bitch in ME2. Mostly i think of it as Bioware setting the stage for a tug of war between the ME1 Love interest and the ME2 Love interest in ME3. As for the MIA thing, when it comes to video games i usually follow the same rules as tv and movies. They ain't dead until you see the body. Although i'm not sure how they'd survive a nuclear explosion in their face.

something makes me think the MIA person was picked up by Sarens minions before the attack and potentially indoctrinated by Sovereign, could be that they become and enemy you have to convince to return or kill.....

might be able to explain how Legion got that N7 armor. Might have got it from Kaiden/Ashley somehow.

I forget exactly what legion said about that but wasn't it from the crash site or something?
Either way I'm already itching for mass effect 3'

Copied the profile file to a memory card, decompressed the saves, hexed the values, resigned the package, then copied it back to the hdd. A little bit of work, but it was more of a "could I do it" rather than "1337 h4xx0r". You can also change the face of shepard, ammo levels (16000 rounds), etc... Just takes a little time.

Frankly, i would love just one playthrough with everything just balls out maxed to the max. just to fuck bitches up. who doesnt want 100 shots of M-920 Cain a mission.

He got it off Shepard's body at the Normandy crash site

ah that explains it, after Legion joined the crew i wasn't inclined to make him feel welcome on the ship or befriend him. So i didn't bother with his story or any conversations with him. Only time i showed interest was either checking to see if he had any upgrades to give to the Normandy or his Loyalty mission. When he took a rocket launcher to the head on the collector ship it wasn't any major loss.

fair do, legion quickly became one o my favourites, completed it with no casualties in the end, hopefully do the same this time so it all carries through

this popped up on my Facebook page regarding Mass Effect 2 and it kind of turned into the highlight of my day. Anyway, i'll include the quote since it will take far too long for me to explain. Needless to say, it involves fanboys and them proving just how little they know about girls and real life.

Earlier today, Gabe (Mike Krahulik) from Penny Arcade let the world (Twitter) know he had beaten Mass Effect 2. Stating that he made numerous decisions that weren?t necessarily the best, Gabe?s opinion of the game was still extremely positive. Shortly thereafter, Gabe Tweeted about losing something by the end of the game, without fully disclosing details. A number of Tweets accusing him of spoiling the ending of the game led to his Tweet explaining himself, seen below:

@cwgabriel: every persons game will be different. There are a hundred different decisions to make. There is no way I could spoil your specific game.

This immediately led to one of the most impressive efforts of Penny Arcade fans in surely guaranteeing themselves a Twitter Trend Topic for the day, #me2endings. A number of Mass Effect 2 endings began popping up from Tweeters around the world stating their endings from beating ME2. The reason I?m posting this, is due to social media having a real effect on the people who follow it and how quickly trends can start. Myself not having beaten (or sadly even played Mass Effect 2, due to the sheer number titles currently being out), I loved reading what everyone was saying out there about the endings they came across. A number are intentionally to frustrate fan boys, while others incorporate other movies with some Shepard flair.

We?ve provided some of our favorites below, but feel free to join in the conversation by Tweeting your Mass Effect 2 ending by adding #me2endings at the end. Remember, only 140 characters, so reciting your favorite Resevoir Dog quotes may not fit.

@cwgabriel: At the end of mass effect 2 you find out that Shepard was a ghost the whole time! #ME2endings

@Joe_SuperDPS: Shepard was promised a high rank in Cerberus, but Jay Leno took it back from him #ME2endings

@joshgeeksix: Shepard discovers that the princess is in another castle. #me2endings

@DavidManly: Shepard discovers that he is inside the Matrix #me2endings

@benhamill: The game is going really well and folks are looking forward to where the overall plot will go. Then Fox cancels the series. #me2endings

@Joe_SuperDPS: Shepard I know you just saved the Galaxy and all and imma let you finish, but Halo 3 had one of the best endings of all time!

on top of that here's also some of the things being posted on twitter regarding ME2.

ChrisManji: #me2endings At the end of Mass Effect 2, it was all just a dream.
optimist__prime: ... and after saving the galaxy the blue fairy turned commander shepard into a real boy!!
bigtreice: shepard watches his mother beheaded and 10 years later returns to kill camp counselors with a machete and hockey mask
FinishingLast: Without the Illusive Man's robot hands, the opera turns lousy, but Miranda stays and listens to the end with Legion's ears
bigtreice: shepard joins the AVATAR project, where he meets a couple of NEW interesting blue people, and saves them from utter destruction
bigtreice: shepard goes back in time, joins the basterds....AND FUCKIN PWNS HITLER!.....after that shepard opens a bed&breakfast for varren

anyway, it can be followed over at http://search.twitter.com/search?q=#me2endings

Finally got around to beating the game. Epic end.

And everybody lived! Luckily I did every possible side mission/loyalty quest and upgrades before heading into the Relay. Playing on Insanity with 3-4 Harbingers coming at you in a row was just crazy. Crazy fun though.

The end boss was kind of a letdown though, cause his own superlaser would damage his own Collector minions so all you had to do was pop back to cover once he fired that thing out of his "mouth".

In the end I gave the base over to Cerebeus cause even though I didn't trust them, I have a feeling we'll need them (and the tech from the base) for ME3.

Hopefully I'll be able to go back and do a Renegade FemShep Vanguard run in the near future.

So I just finished it for the first time, and the ending was a bit of a disappointment...

As this was my first play through I chose the difficulty level that is 1 below insanity (dont remember what it's called) and it was way too easy. I'm an FPS man myself so obviously I was a soldier and my sniper rifle (with inferno shots) killed that Reaper wannabe in like 7 shots...not to mention Scions died in 2, everyone kept dying so quickly it wasn't even a challenge.

As for the story, Jack died running the people we saved back to the Normandy and Thane died while running right next to me (taken by a swarm of those bugs) and it all felt a bit anti-climatic with no big thing happening. I chose to keep the Collector base for the advantage in ME3.

All in all I loved ME1 more, it's a bit slower but it was somehow more exciting. Still ,I can't wait for ME3.

hmm, i've heard it comes down to who you send at different points. I sent Legion down the pipes and Garrus leading the fire team and Legion ended up taking a rocket launcher to the head (no loss, he's geth). Along with Samara as my biotic and Grunt escorting the people back. I had thought that the Legion/Garrus combo was the best team to go but i'm thinking next time i'll do a Tali/Garrus combo.
I'll agree with the human reaper thingy, i was honestly expecting a end boss fight against the Collector General and the Reaper thingy was just a lead in to that fight.
All in all, i still think ME2 is a improvement over ME1 but then each to their own. All i know is that Bioware are still yet to produce a turkey and hopefully they never will.

About picking your team at the end, the game actually gives you pretty good hints about who to choose for what.
A good technician for the vents, an experienced leader for the fire teams, a powerful biotic for the shield... one thing it doesn't mention though, is that everyone you assign to a special duty should be loyal to you.

Below is a link to a walkthrough that explains how to keep your team alive pretty well. Don't click if you want to find the "right" way to proceed in the end yourself, though!

So that's why Mordin died when I didn't have him escort the crew back, but Garrus.
