Mass Effect 2

About picking your team at the end, the game actually gives you pretty good hints about who to choose for what.
A good technician for the vents, an experienced leader for the fire teams, a powerful biotic for the shield... one thing it doesn't mention though, is that everyone you assign to a special duty should be loyal to you.

Below is a link to a walkthrough that explains how to keep your team alive pretty well. Don't click if you want to find the "right" way to proceed in the end yourself, though!

fantastic. Lets me know how to do it when I start a second playthrough with my same Shepard next week.

My eyes area a lovely shade of green!

Not entirely true regarding the end squad-- it also depends on how long you delay going through the relay after the IFF missions

The effect of waiting on the rest of the crew is mentioned a bit further up on that page, in the section about the IFF. ;)
And the way I understand it, it doesn't even matter when you go, so long as you escort the survivors back safely in the base (for the purpose of getting the No One Left Behind achievement, that is).

from what i understand, its Kelly Chambers is the end result here. If you hold back after the crew get kidnapped. She'll be turned into liquid goo. If you go straight away then she'll be rescued. Obviously its only important if your trying to add her to the tally notch on top of Shepards bed. If you rescue the crew and send them back on their own. They get wiped out. I don't know of any other combination.

Hmmm I wonder why Thane died when I brought him with me, I had Miranda hold the biotic shield and she was loyal, so was Thane, maybe Miranda isn't strong enough for it and you need Jack or Samara to do it...

Jack dying actually made sense as she wasn't loyal.

EDIT: Hmmm after reading that guide I see my wrong decision was indeed letting Miranda hold the biotic shield which is crap cause they spend half the game telling you how she was genetically altered to be the strongest possible biotic and then Jack is much stronger.

Other than that I'm surprised at how close to their recommendations I played the last human-reaper larva thing. adrenaline rushes to take out the tubes, use Widow sniper rifle to hit it combined with adrenaline rushes for 2 easy shots per firing chance, it really was too easy that way. We'll see how it goes on Insanity which I'm playing now.

Mordin rocks. We need a spinoff game devoted to Mordin with permanent bullet-time since everyone else are so slow.

Finally finished! Although I did make some wrong decisions.... Legion, Garrus, Mordin and Grunt died. I don't understand though, I sent Legion through the ducts and Garrus on the other fire team but Legion still died. Perhaps I should have upgraded personal shields and such more before going through the relay?

^ Check my post on the last page, there's a link that should explain everything.

I'm on my insanity run and I was saving my Cain 920 for the Praetorian on Horizon for so long it was sooooo annoying when it survived it, only had about 25% armor after taking the hit but by the time I get my senses back it had a full barrier in place, grrrr. I owned him after that obviously but I didn't even think anything actually survives that nuke :p Pissed me off but I suppose it would've been much more of a hassle without it

The game is actually a lot of fun on insanity, I obviously carried my Shepard from the last game so I haven't encountered any real choke point so far, only place worth mentioning was while saving Garrus it was rather difficult to close one of the shutters but other than that the game goes pretty smoothly so far

was going through the Mass Effect forums on Bioware earlier and found this, proof that there are some ME fans out there who don't descend into fanboy rants and slit their wrists over Bioware.
Backstory is that someone had posted a question about the Hammerhead DLC (basically its a vehicle that you'll be able to use to explore worlds, much like the Mako in ME1 but is more of a hovertank than a land rover). not long after this happened.

Ah, yes. "Hammerhead." The DLC involving the new vehicle that you can allegedly download. We have dismissed that claim. It can't have been 'delayed' when no official release date has been announced. Not to my knowledge, anyway.

Ah, yes. The "turian councillor". I'm pretty sure you got atomized by the geth fleet in the battle of the citadel.

Ah, yes. "Death." The notion that a mere explosion could put me down and stop me from interfering with your duties. We have dismissed that claim. I would love to see Zombie Turian councillor return and say that.
