Not that I disagree, but duh. Why would the rich care?

one thing I've always wondered is, why the fuck don't people ever move? I mean, you're in a shitty area, you're smart enough to know that it's a shitty area and there are better areas out there, so fucking pick up and move! Nobody is really doing anything about illegal immigration and in most countries there is a nice little economy built on illegals, so just do what the rest of them do and move. It's not going to put a Ferrari in the drive but it'll put food on the table.

or shit, here's an idea, fight for your country? fight to improve things where you live instead of asking for a hand out? take control of your own resources, get rid of the corrupt in power? hmm...

Well maybe if they put the damn AK-47's down and plow a fucking field! We sent hundreds of thousands of tons of food to Africa every year but there's only so much we can do, at some point they do have to start helping themselves and stop highjacking relief shipments. You want selfish? How about the warlords in Africa that highjack the food and aid for their merry little band of rouges? At least we are doing something, but we can' put military personnel on every shipment and we can't exactly go in an clean house either.

Thank you for the double bind. We're damned if we do and we're damned if we don't. I'm so tired of the international community bitching at the US no matter what we do. If we get involved we are meddeling, if we stand back and let the locals sort it out then we are selfish and delinquent in our role as a Superpower.

Ok, rant over. I'm sorry these people are hungry, but seriously, stop attacking the people trying to help you, put the rifle down and pick up a plow, dig a well or a canal, irrigate the land and start to work it.

I don't agree with that. China and India seem to be doing something possitive.

I can't stand it when people complain about handouts they're getting. When they do this, they should lose all aid IMO. Maybe if they would spend their money feeding their families instead of stocking up on ammo there wouldn't be a problem. Or here's a novel idea: use those guns to shoot yourself some dinner!

It's like trick or treating, sometimes people ask for more or say "Is that all I get?", that's my alalogy anyway ;)

I blame socialist governments that grew in Africa in the 1950's and 1960's. People who once lived nomadically, and picked and left when the food or water ran out, were forced to live in one area. Other examples:

Somalia. These silly asses have been warring with each other for centuries, and will coninue to do so for many centuries to come. America made the mistake of getting involved with clan warfare.

Ethopia. Remember, if some of you can, when Ethiopia was all in the headlines in the mid 1980's? There was even a huge concert for them, LiveAid. The world sent millions of tons of food to there. You know who it went to? No one. It sat rotting, because the government was trying to starve a nomadic people into settling. Yet another civil war.

I think Africa as a whole should start thinking as one and instead of blaming everyone but themselves, should point the finger back at themselves.

So it's the fault of the socialists who were forced to take over from centuries of colonialism that divided the continent based on which European overlord controlled the area?

Look at Iraq, that hell hole should have never been a country in the first place, so to blame the American occupation or Saddam only would be ignoring the root of the problem.

There's no point in pinning all the blame on Africa, it would be unfair and we would be ignoring the root of the problem, lines drawn by colonialists on a map that didn't take into consideration the ethnic makeup of the areas. Let's not forget how colonialists dealt with leaving the continent. Rather than heal the old wounds they have caused, they simply did it like ripping a band-aid off. And what have the colonialists bought to africa? Well, other than some nice buildings in a few capital cities, nothing much really. The people that took over just followed what they knew, their sole example was their previous leaders, who raped and pillaged and gave little back to the people.

Now I'm not saying every country has all of it's troubles due to colonialsm, but I'm not saying it's all the socialists' fault either.

I agree with how the colonial problem could have started it, but it seems like they should be beyond that by now. Surely they could see how the successful nations of the world operate and adapt accordingly. Unless all of Africa's leaders are a few fries short of a happy meal. (No pun intended in this case :) )
