Melbourne Meetup MkII - Getting it sorted

coupe/3dr hatch either way. Still, it's missing 2 doors!

I've driven an ST170 and i know what the reviews mean. it's a nice enough car, but it has no balls AT ALL.

Just thought of something, why not go a bit further left field and go an R34 GT-T Sedan?

Hot looking car. Very aggro.

Picking it up after easter :woot:

So now I've got my car sorted, I'm voting for the Otways route...

^You lucky bastard!

Congrats!!

awesome car flyingfridge, can't wait to see it in flesh.

I would vote Otways but that would involve a very large amount of freeway driving which I'm not too keen on,

thanks guys, i'm getting toey for it now but I'm making myself wait.

Otways, the freeway driving isn't too bad or too long and it's made a lot more fun with 2-ways, it's also easy to punctuate it with some stops so it's not too bad.

OK, It's pretty much my dream car, exactly the way I would want one.

It's a '95 R33 Series 2 Skyline GT-R V-Spec with 82000km on it and we're pretty certain the k's are genuine.

HKS Front Pipe
Magnaflow Exhaust
HKS Cam Gears
RacePace ECU Re-Tune
Bilstein adjustable suspension
Rays Volk TE37 18" Rims

There are other little touches around the car like the standard original 180km/h gauge cluster but there's this little digital speedo mounted on the steering column. It's also been fitted with a race harness in addition to the regular seat belts (I can see on the drive day every one else will have set of and I'll be like James in the Aston still trying to figure the bloody thing out) also got a nice SARD boost gauge mounted on the a-pillar.

I know the previous owner and the thing's an absolute minter.

And there's no Nismo stickers or shopping lists :p

What about this route:

Sth Gippsland Hwy > Korrumburra > (turn north via first part of the sealed grand ridge road) Warragul > (cross the hwy going north) Neerim South > Neerim Junction > Yarra Junction > Eastern suburbs

The distance is a bit longer than the first meet but the first part is quick fwy running. There are plenty of unknown great roads with little traffic. (the Otway alternative could be looking at the back of a camper van for hours - yeeesh)

yea, GOR's traffic is pretty damn heavy at times. Esp on weekends when we're going to do it, but if we have some freeway driving, it gives us time for some nice photos.

This is johnr's route mapped out on google maps. It's an absolute ripper, I've driven a couple of these roads, this gets my vote!

Route Here

It's also worth noting that when we get to Yarra Junction, it'd be easy to skip back to Warburton for a quick blast up Mt Donna Buang like we did last time if we're in the mood by the time we get that far...

Might be worth checking it john, did i get the way from Korumburra to Warragul right?

Added to first post.

Oh I missed the last one, if fbc is going to desert midshippers I'll have to fly the flag.

Fridge,

Yep that's it. Andi I hear what you mean about some freeway driving and shooting so I've come up with the mk2 version of the route which includes the Princess Fwy with the Hallam and Pakenham bypasses:

Route Mk 2

Now to find someone to drive my ubercar along the freeway while I hang out the window shooting......

Ah nice change, photo ops are always a winner!

maybe a route mkIII with mt donna included?

Route MkIII

In terms of distance it's pretty much exactly the same as what we did last time. If you count a run up mt donna buang on both, there's only 10km difference...

It's jumping out of 4th gear now :( It's like it's pushing me away...

I'm now a 'maybe' for this meet - depends what state the MR2 is in, and / or what I'll be driving instead (tossing up getting a 2nd gen Liberty Wagon and keeping the MR2 as a toy).
