Mercedes-Benz E-class Shooting Brake Concept

What in the name of all that's holy is that. I mean, their lately released CLC was pretty terrible, but this... I can just hope this stays a concept and never sees the light of day as a production car, otherwise Merc will never have a chance of redeeming itself. Why don't they stick to making really good solid normal cars, as they always used to, and focus on returning their once legendary quality instead of coming up with weird concepts noone wants anyway.

Hey, so far the new S, SLK, CL, and C have been working well, so there's no reason why the E won't ;).

(Having said that if there was a less busy version of this, i.e. a real shooting brake of the next gen E class, you can consider me as someone who'd look seriously at it - if i had the means, of course)

Lexus much?

When I saw the words shooting brake and E-class mixed I just wanted to say NO!, but on second thought it does look quite nice, of course it combines a coupe's lack of room in the back with the hideousness of a station wagon.......... on third thought, just NO!!

I don't like the lights and the rear end, otherwise it seems OK. I don't get the concept behind this one though...what good reason does one have to buying that over a C-class? I think this one will remain a concept car.

I thought that also about the GST and CST* concepts:

But Mercedes put them into production

That said - I really don't think they'll put this into production. I think this is just to gaze opinion onto what will most probably be the front end of the new E-Class, and a few other models.

Probably a competitor for the X6?
So if BMW sells a lot of X6's maybe MB will produce this...hmmm...don't know.

Ehm....I might still adore the pre-1995 era of mercedes, but I don't get those cars. Why would you buy either of them? The good news is, at least I am not mad, seeing as I havn't seen 1 of those two ever.:p

I really don't get why they would want to seperate the light covers. From the US w126 forums, there is constant talk about converting the US spec lights (which were divided) to EURO spec ones. You would think that mercedes could learn from that....I know it's a completely different design, but the basic thing is still the same, in my opinion.
