Michael Schumacher in critical condition after head trauma

Nothing new.

I only read an independent comment the other day that it's not a good sign that there hasn't been an update for so long. If you want to speculate, you could judge that as a sign that at least nothing positive has happened.

This long in a coma isn't a good sign.

It could be he is already brain dead and the family doesn't have the heart to pull the plug (obviously speculation). When my mother died she was in a coma for two weeks, though she effectively died shortly after she lost consciousness.

^Not sure about European law, but UK law says once brain death is confirmed, the family doesn't decide whether to pull the plug or not, it's the Doctors' choice. Whatever the situation, my heart really goes out to Michael's family :(

That is so sad. If he really is brain dead, then I hope that the family doesn't try to keep him alive just for their sake. When my mother died 2 years ago, at the very end, we could have put her on a machine to 'help', but the family knew this was the last thing she wanted.

I had power of attorney and would have done anything to save my mom, but even though I'm glad I let her go, it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. My thought are with his family if they have to make that decision.....

Even if he wakes up with brain activity, I really doubt he'll be anything but a vegetable. I have hope but at this point I think we have to be realistic and realize the Schumacherl we knew is now long gone.

It is indeed a sad realisation but after this long without any news the chances of a Hammond style recovery are looking very remote indeed.

So long, champ. Whatever the outcome I will always think of you as you were.

It's a chilling reminder of how precarious life is. A really sad way to go, but he has left a mighty legacy. Gone before his time, but he had a damn good innings whilst he was with us.

gah, I can't succumb to this speculation until I see an official report. I agree on the suspicion that he is probably brain dead, I mourn for the old Michael and thank him for the beautiful years he gave and shared with the racing community.

Love can do crazy things.

Tweet from Byron Young (f1 journalist)

Delighted to report manager Sabine Kehm reports encouraging new signs for #Schumacher. Read Mirror Sport or Bild #f1

I've decided not to stop believing in him coming back in some shape or form.

BBC news alert just said he is showing some signs of consciousness according to a statement from his agent.

In light of how Hammond recovered should we club together and get Schumi one of these?

I'd be in for a group FinalGear gift to the family.

And if we raise enough I volunteer to fly down there to present it on person! :D
