i'm pretty divided on this topic as well ... on the one hand when i see young punks doing shit like this i always think to myself, "man, someone should give them their just desserts", but on the other hand i don't think anyone has the right to murder another individual, especially over something as stupid as egging a car 
then again, the kids i see now-a-days are getting more and more reckless and disrespectful of others, with the mentality that they're invincible and can do anything they please, but when it backfires, you have an incident like this ...
it's actually kinda coincidental, i was just watching this weeks punk'd and they did a joke on an actor or something where a kid was egging his friend's car ... weird
