The latest Eclipse is the fourth generation of the sporty coup?, goes on US sale in 2005 and comes with either 2.4-litre four-cylinder or 3.8-litre V6 engines.

What do you lot think of this car?

looks too futuristic to be in production next year... I don't think the world is ready for this sort of design... btw is the car really short?

It looks like the car came to a stop too fast and everything shifted forwards. :p
The 3.8L V6 should be decently quick though.

well... I read it awhile back Mitsubishi was quite serious about producing that next year... but TBH Mitsu. Eclipses have gotten worse since the 2nd Gen

I never liked them, the only one I've seen is on the fast and the furious and it was damn poop. I think I saw one in the MacDrive, they are REALLY rare here...and if you see one, it's probably stock...or you have to get some civic bumpers and spoilers, I wouldn't bother shipping eclipse stuff

Here's some more pics:

I'm quite fond of the stylings personally. Anything that seems too futuristic is a good thing imo :)

Hmmm on second look it looks quite nice actually

And now it reminds me of an old Ford GT90 (??) that thing in NFS 1.
But I guess I wasn't taken serious anyway

Wow. GT90 was horrendous. I actually kinda liked the front headlights but that's it. That Eclipse is disgusting. I gotta agree with Josty, it really does seem it came to a stop too fast and shifted everything forward. Even then, the front headlights are very awkard.

I'm all for futuristic and bizzare looking concepts, but I do not think that Eclipse belongs on the road quite yet. :?

^that's one nice looking car

this is an old concept, they won't produce that.

It's way too futuristic for the american market

Word. And like Ren said, North America wouldn't buy it......yet. I quite like some things about the car, but Mitsu shouldn't call it the Eclipse. I loathe the current one - Mitsu should just kill the line and reintroduce that concept in 5-10 years as a different name.

I thought the GT90 was absolutely gorgeous and still do. I also like this Eclipse quite a lot. Looks like an update of the Tigra. I can see it selling big personally.

If people say that this Eclipse is too futuristic I find it very easy to believe GT90 was well ahead of it's time. I did like it in NFS2, though(it was only in 2, not in the first), as I used to beat all my friends driving Mclarens with this.

OK, on topic: I quite like this new Eclipse, but I find the front lights a bit odd, not to mention that gray panel right below the windscreen. Other than that, I like the sleek, round shape of the car. I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned it, but the similarity between this and Audi TT is striking, especially on the rear.
