what do you think has been the most amazing F1 race ever? I'm just lurking for some good entertainment, and i was wondering which race should i watch :)

if you are looking for crashes then watch last yers race on the nurburgring ;D

thanks for your entries, but i'm not preferably looking for crashes, just an enternaiting race... thanks for brazil 2003, but i'm looking for something a little bit older :)

If you want drama and uncertainty in mega-powered monster cars, Australia 1986. The last time before last year when three drivers had a shot at the title before the last race (title eventually won by the underdog).

yeah, i know france 1979 and brazil 2003, but i can't seem to find them available anywhere... :/

What about France 1979 ;) Everyone should know what happened there.

France 1979 wasn't that good actually apart from the last laps. Yeah, the last laps are awesome, but the race itself wasn't that interesting.

If you'd like to see something of recent times, watch Brazil 2003, or my personal favourite, Suzuka 2005!! (Edit: I've just seen you're looking for older ones)

From the 90's, Spa 1998 is good entertainment, so are Spa 1995, N?rburgring 1995, Donington 1993, Barcelona 1996, N?rburgring 1999... so many to chose from!

Adelaide 1986 was great, and Long Beach 1983, Monaco 1982 and '84, Jarama '81...

Belgium GP 1986 was quite good too, that was essentially in the middle of the Turbo era with cars having between 800-1000 hp during the race, and as much as 1400 in qualifying. And, there were no driver aids either, leading to a bit of a havoc into La Source on the first lap... Anyway the full race report by BBC is up on YouTube...

Then there is the most action filled bit of the season ender in 1986:

I wish I could get get qualifying footage from the turbo era. The races are great but the cars were "only" around the 850hp mark. I want to see the ultimate turbo performance. Derek Warwick describes Monza in '84 or something in the Brabham I think with almost 1500hp. 7 speed gearbox and the thing just never stopped accelerating. He was on a flyer until coming through parabolica the engine just absolutely disintegrated.

As for races Monaco 1996 is a classic, so much drama. I like Schuey's last race too Brazil 2006 just for the emotion.

Kimi, Suzuka.

Enough said.

And countless other old F1 races, for example 1968 N?rburgring, Jackie Stewart's amazing drive in the wet and fog. But Kimi's win at Suzuka is the best recent races I've seen in a while.

Thanks mate, I have a couple of 85 laps from Lap of the Gods DVD. Patrick Tambay at Adelaide is awesome, first 4 gears are just a blur.

If you're a Schumacher/Ferrari fan then Hungary 1998 is amazing.

He really pulled it out of a hat for that one... a nailbiter at a time in teh championship where it just looked like Ferrari were down and out. Hungary was where they turned it around and they were in it with a fighting chance until Schumacher stalled it on the grid at Suzuka. And remember, back then Ferrari hadnt won a championship in 18 years and MS in 3 years.

It wasn't so good if you were a McLaren supporter...that race was theirs to win on a circuit practically built for the Mp4-13, and they dropped the ball big time.
