I put my top down to drive a mile and a half down the road...




... i do this 4 times a week.


But as i said i searched high and low for a miata without power steering or power windows, im actually insane I-R-L :)

Sadly I can't. She came pretty well optioned. Mechanics degree, full set of professional tools, race car... Thankfully in Minnesota nice, cheap Miatas are alot easier to find
than Del Sols, so I've got a chance.
 
Usually if I'm just a short time away (1 hour or so) I leave the top down, unless I've parked under a tree. It's the birds I'm most afraid, not the rain.
 
My rule is > than 5C and no rain, the roof comes down. I do have the slight advantage of heated seats, but I'd rather dress appropriately and have the lid off.

After all, there is no such thing as bad weather, merely the wrong clothes.
 
The main thing that bothers me is when people ride with the windows up and the top down, its the most grating of all the automotive offenses.
 
If something like that bothers you then I suggest you seek help. Ever heard the phrase "don't sweat the small stuff"?

So there is a difference between our seats! Mine are not heated.
 
Yes, but your knob is sexier than mine, as is your gater.
 
Yes but those are all after market. Heated seats don't interest me though since if it is cold enough to need them I don't plan on driving the Miata to work.

... It just seems like "Im driving a convertable but wind bothers me". Its dumb. Sorry.
 
Wind doesn't bother me. Being cold does. It's a lot easier to put the windows and wind blocker up than to put on enough clothes to handle the cold. It's also quieter with the windows up, which aids in conversation when I have a passenger.

Well if I'm driving in an urban setting with the top down then the windows are down too as it's really not an issue. At highway speeds it is nice to minimise the buffeting. And I'll have the roof down at night if it's warm enough. :p
 
Found some rust last night down by the rear passenger wheel. :mad: It isn't bad and I'm going to take care of it today but I also found the drain holes for the top were clogged solid so I had to use my shop vac and blow them out then pour a lot of water down the drain holes. I also pulled up the parcel shelf carpet and looked around the drain holes but luckily no rust there.
 
Rust in rocker panels is sadly really common. A friend of mine went to look '03 NB and I was helping him, because he didn't have any experiences of MX-5s. Otherwise it was in really nice condition, but there was already quite a lot of rust in front of rear wheels. Nothing major, but asking price was 7000 euros, and for that price it should be perfect.

I've to do some rust fixing for my NA as well, but hopefully it doesn't spread too much before August when I go back to Finland and have proper place and equipment.
