Ownership Verified: My 1990 Mitsubishi Sapporo

Fuel consumption for the past 800km seems to be 7,8l/100km. Pleasantly low.

Also, got flashed by a speed camera yesterday evening, doing 87-ish at a 80 zone. Let's see if I get the photo.

cheapest professional photoshoot ever..

I just hope the image quality will be worth the hassle :p

Never have gotten flashed before, and if I get ticketed it will be the first one in 75 000 km or so.

i also got flashed for the first time 9.1.2011, still havent gotten the pic. it was 60 zone, meter was at 71 and gps said 66. and because error margin with those is -3 always.. so 63 at 60 doesnt even bring a warning..

Yeah, that error margin is what I'm hoping for. That would mean I could set the cruise at just under 100 and just.. cruise

I got caught doing a mind-boggling 84km/h in an 80. Got a letter, but no fine. Just a warning. And even more annoyingly, no photo :(

Road tax bill arrived in the mail, 120.58 eur per year. Not too bad; the 323F is 80ish euro.

Also, according to the VIN and a rust proofing sticker in the trunk, the car was manufactured and imported in 1988. It must've sat in storage in Finland for a couple of years.

This thread seriously makes me want to buy this: You know you want the digital dashboard.

Here's the sticker that says 6/88, thus proving the car was in the country for two years before being registered.

I got flashed @ 82km/h in a 60 zone in december. It was middle of the night in snowfall and I didn't notice I entered a 60 zone. And this of course was on a road with about 8 cameras, where always only one is a functioning one, and of course that happened to be the one. With the -3 rule I barely got away with just a ticket. They showed me the picture at the station, it was surprisingly high quality. They had the CSI zoom of my face and you could definitely tell it was me.

Which one is helping which? :)

Hmm, my 406 has helped the MX-5 come back to life twice now, so based on that knowledge I'd guess the F needed help?

And yes, leaving interior lights on for couple of days will cause problems to MX-5. And yes, using MX-5s battery as a source for 50W work light for many hours after the car hasn't been driven for weeks will do the same.

Yeah, the F sat untouched for three weeks and didn't produce even a click when I turned the key. And when the Mitsu juiced it up, it felt very grumpy that I had disturbed its slumber.

In the 80's Finland it wasn't so unusual for car to stay in stock for couple of years before being registered. They used to order large amounts of cars, sometimes those stocks lasted long before they were sold out. For example legendary Datsun 100A (E10). Last of those were were manufactured in 1975, last registered in Finland 1979. They were so popular that importer hauled unsold cars from central Europe to here.

My participation in ticket conversation: 139 km/h @ 100 km/h area, 136 km/h after error margin. You shouldn't overtake civilian disguised police cars. 340 ? fine, I still have my driver's licence. :p

Booked a service for next week. I want to banish the oil leak/seepage, and looks like it's coming from the front crank seal. Getting a new cam belt + the works at the same time, and looks like it might need a brake master cylinder overhaul as well. These are the things keeping me from getting it to an early MOT.

Also: no ticket in the mail yet. :)

More pics from last week when there was a spot of sunlight:

BTW, the text on the last pic says "Oil Prevention"

The rust spot on the rear rocker shows quite a bit in those pics. My opel has at least a color that helps camuflage the rost in that same area. Needs to be fixed in spring.
