Ownership Verified: My 1990 Mitsubishi Sapporo

Nice Mitsubishi! Seems like you have to come and show it in FinnJAE meeting next August.

Good looking ride. Reminds me of an early Skyline.

It's exactly that kind of car. And I wouldn't be surprised if a previous owner had already taken it to a meet like that.

It does have that certain Newman-era Skyline edginess. Shame it doesn't have round taillights :)

I love it. I want one. Citroen interior combined with Mitsubishi reliability = I must have one, why didn't they sell them here?

Well, you got the Eterna and its derivatives, this is pretty much the same thing - minus the available digi dash. That would've been awesome.

They sort of did, in another form..

My parents had a Magna, and I occasionally saw a grey import Sapporo drive by, and I always wanted that. Ours just seemed so conservative and un-Japanese compared to the Sapporo. If you get the Elite model, it came with the digital dash and single spoke wheel.

Here is a cheerful one you can pick up in Adelaide for 899

I knew the Magna was pretty much the same car, but I didn't know we got the digital dash. Sadly, there are no early Magna Elites on Carsales in NSW :(
But I do like the idea of getting one as a beater if its only $800 or something.

The magna was based on the galant, with some extra width in it. It was a uniquely australian car though, even though the design was pretty similar.

Nice Sapporo.
is it rust free?

We knew those as Galant in our markets.

No wonder it looked familiar :D
We had 2 of those Galants -86 and -88 models, and i think there's the owners manual here somewhere.
i only satted in the backseats since i was 9-14 when we hade those.
Also we had the only broken ones too :/

It is rust free except for a thumb-sized spot on the driver's rear wheelarch bottom, and for a couple of random specks on the passenger side sill.

the Magna here became a slightly larger sleeker version of the Galant, pillarless doors etc, while the Galant became ugly :/

Now the real question: which one will you take to the ring? :D

Congrats, welcome to the world of the Triple Diamond Mafia.

4g64, that baby is ready for some upgrades, twin cam head bolts on you know... and turbo manifolds bolt on to that twin cam head...
