You are so lucky you live in America and the cars can be built and then delivered so quickly. My parents are trading in our E-Class for the new facelift and it has a January build date with April delivery.

Ahhh the joys of living so far away from the rest of the word

I won't lie to you...I'm not a big fan of the 5-Series design but it is growing on me (slightly). You got nice alloys on it however the M-Sportpack would have been nicer especially with those brilliant seats they come with!

I heard BMW might be slotting in the new bi-turbo I6 from the 335i to replace the engine you got....due by March apparently?

My parents had the same deal with their E90 3 series as well, 6 month wait (though they did buy it just at change over) Their's is a July 05 build I think.

Nice car! I really love the look of the 5 series. Did you get the auto or the stick? My dads got a 330xi, same engine and im very impressed with it, seems to haul from all sorts of rpm.

Nice car you got there, by the looks of things you ticked a few options on the sheet. Out of interest do the 5 series still have the indicator problem we were told about on TG?

I'm amazed at the build to delivery time, quicker than our car which took 3 months from order to delivery to arrive.

Thanks :) I'll post some more pics once I get home tonight. VR6, I got the auto since I drive in heavy traffic frequently (stupid DC traffic). Yeah the engine is amazing, I almost got an E320 CDI (which I liked btw, in BG I drive a W210 E240, there you go SL65 :p ) but then I drove the E60 and this engine is just one of the reasons I didn't. Each car has its good points, but from now on I think I'm going to be a 5er fan, it just fits me much better than the E.

As for the delivery time, I was surprised as well, they told me 6-8 weeks. I think since it was nearing the end of the month, the dealer put the car on priority or something so they could meet their quota.. who knows, but I'm happy.

When I first seen the current 5 series it was like WTF? what have they done to the range, as pple have said the shape has grown on me. I really like the look of it. Awsome car I so want one.

Allow me to be the first to ask, but...how's the iDrive? Is it really as bad as people make it out to be?

My friend's parents have a 7er and they ride around with the voice control, so they find it easy to use. Dunno about your experiences.

Well my two main interests are with cars/motorsports and technology/gadgets, so I find iDrive to be brilliant. It has an amazing array of functions that are laid out logically (IMO) and with the voice commands it's very easy to use. Maybe the complicated first-gen, 8 directional interface in the 7 series left a bad impression. I think the system was a bit ahead of its time when it came out, nowadays it makes more sense and you can see other manufacturers starting to copy it.

BTW I've used a variety of these systems (Lexus touch-screen, Mercedes, Acura touch-screen) and the iDrive is quite a bit more advanced in terms of features. That's probably why some people are turned off by it, you can tweak and play with so many different things. I'm one of those people that loves to play with gadgets, so I like it
