I've driven -04 Corolla T-Sport.
I like the interior, it's much better than in Civic TypeR and so it's the finishing quality. Corolla is very easy to drive, it differs pretty little from normal Corolla.
Actually, too little. T-sport is confort and easy to drive but the chassis and base lack a bit of stiffnes. And there isn't that much power either, it could have been much faster.

I haven't yet driven Civic TypeR so I'm comparing Corolla to 230hp Subaru WRX (NOT the STi one) which I drove a month ago. The price difference in Finland between WRX and Corolla T-Sport is only bit more than 15% but WRX delivers shitload more power.

What kind of chip gives out 40 hp to an N/A car?? I want one of those!

chip tuning a NA is like neon.. usless for everyone but the owner who thinks it makes a diffrence..

the big problem with the T-sport is the suspenison.. sharpen the suspension and fiks the gearbox (no problems with it but its the wrong ratios on it stock..)
easy to fiks.. TRD for the Gearbox.. TTE for the suspenison

Isn't that T-Sport the north american sold Matrix XRS ?

Looks like it...

The engine in those things aren't too impressive. Toyota wanted it to be like VTEC, but didn't get it quite right. They stretched the cam changes too far and got a jerk where the change up to the hot cam is. The just need to concede the NA battle to Honda and build more things with turbos.

Ummm whaaa ?

Ok, so I'm no Toyota apologist, but the 1.8 engine code 2ZZ, developped with Yamaha years ago is good enough for Lotus with some breathing improvements then I think it's an "OK" engine. Yes, it's peaky as hell, but for the price you won't find an equivalent VTEC engine.

Though I'm also suspicious of the +40HP claim fro chips ... a chip + intake manifold ... maybe.

Anyhoot, we know the Lotus put a supercharger on the 2ZZ for more then 240 hp from it and ForceFed did 275 with a turbo bolt on.

I always thought those were hot little hatches. Certainly no VW GTI, but hey... ;)

I thought they chose it cause it fit in the car with no modifications. *shrugs*

that's BS ... Toyota make better engines than Mazda period ... The Type - R may seem faster on the road, but the same as the VVTi on paper ...
