I thought I'd start this thread to keep me busy and to get some discussions/arguments going :) After all, the last thread I started to keep myself busy (Lens Flair) seemed to go quite well!

Anyways, this is about what I regard to be good car to buy - I intend to try and keep it updated as much as I can and I'll probably end up posting more than one a week, but what the hell :D

I'm going to be choosing one car a week that I think will go up in value over the few years that one would hypothetically own it. I'm going to try and keep it classy and tasteful, it is theoretically meant to be a daily car, and also keep prices realistic - ie no Enzos!

Feel free to post your own cars in this thread too btw - might as well try and keep discussions at a max :) Let's see how this goes!

Ok - for my first one I'm gonna post this:

1979 Ford Escort MkII

I like this car not only because it is a classic piece of motoring history, but because of the fantastic condition of this particular example. Shame she's in white, but with only 20,000 miles on the clock  - who can refuse?

So, let me know what you think

i think i wish i lived in the UK so i could buy it... i have always loved the older escorts... about it appreciating invalue i am not so sure... tho i suppose as more and more of them break down and get parted out shear rarity will make the price go up

TF

I love these 2 cars

But I like the escort better (rwd rulez)

So, everybody is happy. You get the escort, and I get this one. :p

i've recently seen an older alfa, with 3 square headlights at each side, it looked great!! :woot:

can anyone post some info about that car, caus i don't even know what it's called

Booh to the GTI, Yaaayy to the Escort. I've seen it on the rally a few times, it's pretty.

The golf is too ordinary..

THis one? The Alfa Zagato SZ

I saw a yellow one a few days ago, quite a special car.

please please please tell me that is a RWD car... for a car to look that good and be front wheel drive would be a crime

TF

i think the Zagato looks really dull. Looks like a Vantage that's been made by a 5 year old

Now that's how to make em 8)

I love it... reminds me more of a Subaru SVX than an aston either way i still think it looks great... maybe the only thing i would change would be maybe a bit more bumper sticking out infront of the lights but thats it

TF

Well, thought I'd bump this old thread because I liked it.

Missed a few weeks though it seems :p

Anyway, I'm gonna try and keep more on top of it this time, and maintain the cheap classics theme. Here's my car of the week:

1982 BMW 316

An E21 in pretty damned good condition for ?750 sounds pretty good to me, plus it's a private seller, so you could probably haggle him down to ?650. I just love the classic shape of this vehicle - beautiful in my eyes :)

Comments please! :)
