I went for a drive along the Great Ocean Road today. The weather was wonderful, great for driving. (Sorry about the quality of some of the pics, it's a bit hard taking a good photo when you can't look where the camera is pointing. ie: I was driving)

It didn't start too well though... 40km/h on the Westgate Bridge (Bloody roadworks)

Now that's better!

I saw a gorgeous black Monaro on the freeway. I named her "Black Betty", it looks like Betty was in pain, she had a spare wheel on the drivers front side.

Then I saw a 996 Carrera. There was an L-plate on the back window, the lucky learner driver was a very attractive blonde (I cldn't coordinate a photo of her. Damn!)...

But then I had to leave the pretty blonde behind. *bye bye!*

Then my car wanted a little rest so I stopped just past Lorne at a little beach

So I thought I'd take some random photos

My car decided to make a little pose just before we left. How could I resist?

Then I saw a few more cars on the way home.
A Nissan Skyline, an R33 I believe.

Subaru STi

Bentley Continental GT. Sex.

Hmmm. That's a bit small for a Golf GTI...

Hang on! It's a Polo GTI!

Oh. Good question. Well, it officially starts outside of Torquay and I believe it "officially" ends around Warnambool. It's bloody long.

Very nice!!

when you get your license... all of the aussies should come down to great ocean road to have a drive :D. I'm sure Leppy would join as well, plus there are couple of W.Australians :D. It would be an awesome trip

P in Australia stands for Provisional... as in it's a provisional license, if you screw up, it gets taken away pretty quickly!

Save starting a new thread, here are the photos from my trip down the GOR on the weekend. The day was absolutely glorious, I have the sunburn to prove it. Awesome day, awesome driving. Just Awesome.

Blaro, you'll love these, I got plenty of shots of Maccas 300ZX.

Haha awesome, and that ol' banger-Commodore came along aswell!

I really do love your car man. Looks great in that colour, with those rims and that spoiler (is the spoiler factory?).

Great shots of Macca's 300ZX outside Macca's :p

So how many kms did you clock up?

Hmm not sure how many k's it was. I think it was around about 600. This time around i got a lot more all out driving than last time. The fuel efficiency stat I think tells it all. Last time, I got from Melbourne to the turn around point and almost all the way back to Melbourne (around 600k) from one tank of fuel. This time, I refilled in Geelong got to the turn around and then back to Lorne (around 400km) before I had to refuel.

Oh and the spolier on the car is factory, yeah.

I was the fastest driver of the day too :D. Cam's car is faster in a straight line than mine, but there aren't really any straight lines on the GOR. Macca was in cruise mode all day and didn't give it large like Cam and I did. He did go for it down some straight stretches of road and pulled off some amazing double-white line overtaking (Hey, if you want to do some quick driving, you have to take every opportunity to clear the queues legal or not) That 300ZX is a very very very fast car. Macca's not that kind of driver though.

We did get caught behind some tourists doing the old 40k in 80 zone and 60k in 100k zone sort of jobs, but thankfully they were only a problem in one direction. The way back (Saturday night so traffic back to Melbourne was light) we really got to open the taps and see what the cars could do. I was really happy with the Prelude, it didn't miss a beat all day, the handling was very predictable, the brakes, incredibly, didn't fade once, a stat that amazes me no end because I swear I punished them to within an inch of their life. New pads on it last week though, so that I think counted for something. I altered the pressures in the tyres a bit before we left Geelong and I think that made it a little nervous under braking. I did have to hold a few four wheel drifts when I had to brake suddenly to avoid running up the back of a tourist or when I occasionally arrived at a corner too hot and the camber was not level.

All in all, an awesome day. I recommend it to everyone!! Just make sure you tell me that you are going so I have an excuse to go again!!

I'd do a similar thing on Highway 1 of California... but most of the time you're driving at these hairpin turns with the big ocean next to you. and did i mention you are driving about 20stories above sea level?

But indeed, i have to find a way, maybe up north toward sausilito... good drive through forests there.
