Ownership Verified: My Italian soft-top, rarer than a 599 GTO.

 Get used to that transition. "Omigod, the nimble handling and easy parking!" "Omigod, smoothness and comfort!"

I had he same shock when I drove a Ford Fusion for 6 hours and then came back to the Palio.

"The torque, the luxury, the confort, they?re all gone! NOOOOOOO.....
But wait, I didn?t remember cars could change direction that easily!"

The only upside, was eating McDonalds while driving the automagic, best reason to have an auto.

..........

The gearbox, when the engines off it goes into third fine. When moving is obviously when I have the problem, but it does feel like a dry stick TBH. :?

Also female co-worker the 2nd: "I like your new car, it's quite retro."
Random coworker "What is it?"
Female co-worker the 2nd: "Well, you won't see another one." :|

As a back handed compliment i'll take it.

I notice more things everyday, the speedo reads 5MPH when the engines off... and the heaters unfathomable.

What if she was a closet Panda fangirl and knew just how special it was...I smell a match made in heaven...

What goodies are they? No I can't remember what you needed and I'm too lazy to look. :)

It was either that, or save a little money by using Guttmann and Sofima... whoever they are.

Ok in the box we have: oil 'n air filter, oil, plugs, rocker gasket and brake cleaner in an attempt to get the 4 gallons of oil off the block.
This was ?38, it was more but Eurocarparts have a 25% off code. They didn't have leads in stock, so that can wait. :(

Also the sump plug key was a ?5.50 ebay purchase. I really don't wanna do it tomorrow, but it's the only day that I really can.

Waiting to arrive: my ?2.90 multimeter. Bloody battery light still taunts me.

Stupid bloody Italians.

That took 5 hours 15 minutes, shoulda been 1 hour 15 minutes. Due mainly with the weather, also due to Turin... or wherever the thing was designed.
Here it was spitting, rain then nothing all in 20 minute cycles. So I'd run out, dump the oil, run in, run out, take the oil filter off etc. I used the entire can (500ml) of brake cleaner on the air box. It was covered in more oil and mayonnaise than an Americans arse.

Sometime later...

Wanted to figure out the battery light, checked the voltage with everything running, 14.5 volts. I discovered when I was greasing everything a mystery part sat loose on the gearbox, it's part-wired into the headlight... it is currently tie-wrapped to the washer bottle due to premature anger, because of a stupid design feature coming up. <_<

Ah I know, i'll fix the steering wheel and therefore the indicators. I take the wheel off, which takes longer than expected, because of two pointless screws holding the center on, I moved the wheel a couple of splines, I can see the indicator stalk is working beautifully... then the fun begins.

Battery plugged back in, indicate right, turn the wheel right, all is well. Indicate left, turn the wheel left UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH hello my little annoying stupid horn.

I assume, that I tightened the amazing center cap screws on too tight causing the horn to make every neighbour think i'm a cunt. I slackened the screws, one fell out, took 6 days to get it back in. By 'back-in', I mean 1/4 of a thread.

Does it still like to blow it's own horn when I turn? No fucking idea, I locked it up and now i'm eating a bag of crisps.

Got the V5 today, 5 previous owners and the last guy had it just over a year.

Sorry to laugh at your misfortune.

Your Fiat will have it's Italianess happen shortly. :p

I also did the rocker cover gasket, I filled the car up with oil with no cover on. As you know filling a Fire engine with oil, is one of the worst experiences you'll ever have. It's easy this way.

Knowing my luck, i'll leave work Monday night. Drive by a copper, with the horn constantly blowing.

FIRE engines need oil? I know nothing of this. Same goes for cambelts, non-interference FTW.

Yeppers!!! Thats why i'm gonna do it myself. "How hard can it be?" :jeremy:

The mystery object is the resistor for the dim-dip and the steering cover should have two springs... I have one.

How hard can it be, next thing you know you're driving on some farm track with the front half of a Panda. Going "yeeeaaaaaa".

Steering wheel spring and an ashtray, for a great price from a fellow pandarer.

I really want these off Ebay.

I love and need dash pods. :D

This cars gonna be a money pit.

People still keep taking the piss, without even seeing it. (Which would make them laugh more.) You tell them you own a Panda and it's like Peter Kay just slipped on a banana.

'Tis true, Italian convertible or targa sounds better.

Well, I like your car, it is .. errrrrr, unusual and a bit wacky.

It's worse telling people you own a Yaris, trust me.

I was all prepared for constant mocking for Allegros/Dolomites, wasn't prepared for the mocking for buying a post-2000 economy car! That is only until they are a passenger, then they develop a respect, and fear, of it and it's driver.

Maybe it's the name, Panda isn't exactly menacing. Doesn't bother me in the slightest, i'd rather be in this than in an econobox Ford etc.

I have also subconsciously started to drive like an Italian, mainly by being rude and pushing my luck. "Is that gap big enough?" I'm in the Panda. so yes. Guy in the Clio looked annoyed, by me pushing in.

I was in the Punto Gigante in the old part of town earlier, cobbled streets not really wide enough for one car going down it, so when there's cars parked on the left, it's not fun. So I may have driven down at about 20 MPH half of the car on the cobbles, half on the pavement. I won't mention my dangerous driving when overtaking someone who was doing 0.4 MPH through the industrial estate, or waiting at a green light, because I wanted the copper to be out of view, so I could drive in the buses only bit... or cutting a cunt up at a roundabout, I was behind him, he must have been doing 3 mph on a 40.

I can't post any Panda stuff anywhere else, because I expect major neg-rep, on any more of my random Panda shenanigans.
Anyway, now that the 600 is out and we have street pics... Talk about overstyled.
