Ownership Verified: My Italian soft-top, rarer than a 599 GTO.

After I sold my s class mercedes, I bought a Panda, a 1.1 cvt with a glass roof.
Costed me 800 euro, mint condition.
I bought some extra's, like a right hand outside mirror, a door card holder, 2 speaker holders and a radio. Everything except the radio was probably 50 bucks. It didn't have an antenna, so I put some electric wire behind the dash, which did the trick.
Then a branch fell on the car, dented the roof a tiny bit, and the bonnet a bit. Hardly noticable. The council gave me 827.16 euro for that. Didn't get it repaired as it all was still looking good, no chipped paint or whatever.

My Neapolitan Mastiff loved the car.

Then after 2.5 years, the missus wanted a quicker car, a bit bigger as well, and guess what? The car broke down. The plugs on the fuel pump were a bit loose. Pliers and fixed.

Traded the car in and got 500 back for it.

Cheapest car I ever owned. People may have laughed at me, but I had an AMC Javelin, an Escort convertible and a VW transporter as well, so I didn't care.

You've done well.

You mean just a normal glass sunroof?

.....

I arrived at work sweating like Capt 70's at a Professionals convention. I was following a Corsa with a towbar, with a random 'Race sport' sticker on the bootlid, it annoyed me. So I wasn't up his arse, but I was pushing it, there was maybe a 3 car gap. He slams on, because of a Merc slamming on and I stopped without 2 foot to spare.
"The brakes... they do nothing."

dropped the little orange man on a random street in Florence.

3 90s pandas within 50 yards of each other

dropped him again on a random country road near Sienna

2 parked side by side

had to stop, laughing too hard.

I have been beaten by the Panda game. 5 minutes of solid looking and nothing. Not even a proper Panda. It frustrated the hell outta me.

..................

I don't do modified, but if i had infinite cash I 'd make a real one. Destroying a 500 in the process would be amazing. Plus it looks awesome.

Skip towards end if you want.

So a roof part I need, if you get it from Ebay.it, they sell the metal version rather than the stock plastic version.
I asked a question about shipping in English and Italian via Google Translate, which didn't translate back well.
Having Ebay Italy and UK open at the same time and guessing which word means what, is another experience I wouldn't have without the tiny Fiat.

I get paid on Saturday, I have about ?150-ish i'm gonna spend on bits...

Italian post and eBay sellers are about as reputable as their cars :p

But seriously, beware Italian post as stuff mysteriously "gets lost" and eBay sellers can be sneaky.

It's a known seller in the Panda community and they have an English store and a warehouse in England, but some parts are Ebay only. :|

Who thought buying an Italian car with a twin sunroof was a good idea?

I emailed main dealer:

...i?m after the ?elastic tierod? for the sunroof part num: 4483990
?support? part num: 4483967 and rivet 4483777.

The only part that is available is the rivet 4483777 at 1.21 each

Awesome.

:lmao: thank god for rivets!

many people made a thread about their car, yet this is the only one i'm looking forward to new posts

I do love the car, which means that I will buy any part it needs. :(

I can ask at my local Fiat dealer if you want, if the parts still exist we should at least be able to get them in Italy...

Ok, the plastic support is apparently unavailable everywhere. So it looks like i'll have to go metal.
But, I don't want you to go out of your way, if you could ask about the elastic tierods, i'd be grateful.

Decided to give the Panda game a go for the first time near the Pergusa race track. At first I thought all I'd found was new pandas but then...

Send me the part numbers and the frame number for you car via PM, send the details of all the parts, you never know. :)

I'm friends with the owner of the local Fiat garage, take my Delta there.

Haven't visited this thread in a while so I thought I'd see what was going on and came across the Panda game.

I didn't believe that it was really that easy to find one so I had a go.

First attempt, this is where I landed:

Balls! Nothing there.

But then I turned around and...what's that peeking around the corner...

:may: Surely not!

Loving your Panda btw. I've always had a soft spot for Fiats of that generation since my dad had an Uno; it had a hole in the bottom of the door and in the floor which meant that if you drove it in the rain the passengers feet got wet and the door pocket filled with water! But it was a car with personality and I liked it.

What's wrong with the roof again? Can't you cobble something together to keep it shut/waterproof? It's a panda, how hard can it be :p

Much appreciated and PM'd.

I was too busy looking at the proper Panda... and then I saw it.

I guess white/red/blue were free colours. The Italians I assume, just go for those.

A friends brother, used to have an Uno 45 and a Tipo which had a digital dash. This was about 12 years ago so we took the piss. Tipo dash was awesome though.

Amazingly it's watertight. Somebody has used black sealant on it, but does not leak. I need the rear clip and the rubber straps that hold it in place when open. Nothing major.
