So I go to turn on my computer the other day. I press the power button, and I hear the fans spin up as normal... but that's as far as it got. No starting beep, no lights came on in the front of the tower, the computer just sat there with the fans running and no other activity. From the noise level, it didn't sound like all the fans were on either, or maybe they weren't running at full speed, it's hard to tell. I didn't need to get on the computer really badly at the moment so I just turned it back off and decided to try and see what might be the problem later. When I tried starting it a few hours later, it started up just fine, and everything seemed perfectly normal after that.
I didn't think much of it then, I was thinking it might have just been a random hiccup, but then it did it again today. I did get it started up again (I'm typing this on it now) but I'm not liking this. Could this be the death knell of my motherboard? I've had it for a looooooong time, at least seven years, and its definitely the oldest component in my PC. That's what I'm starting to think now.
So could it be something else? Or should I start shopping for new computer parts?
