I've been thinking about that a lot and I guess the reason why I prefer the Ford, can be broken down to the following things:

- The interior in the Ford Kuga "hugs" you tighter, makes you feel more comfortable, thus sacrificing space, while the interior in the VW Tiguan is more spacious -- but also much colder. For example you have to lean forward in the VW to reach the buttons on the dashboard, while in the Ford you can use it all laid back from your sitting position.
- The use of the clutch and gearbox is much better in the Ford Kuga, which makes your drive much more enjoyable. As I already said, the clutch in the Tiguan is like a guillotine. The one in the Kuga is, however, soft as ice cream, while at the same time the shifting through the gears is much easier and more defnined in the Ford, too,
- The Ford is quieter inside, which is mainly a result of good noise insulation from tire roll and also adds to the "more comfortable" feel of the Kuga,
- The engine in the VW is not up to date anymore. Even though the Ford comes with 4 HP less, it is torquier and better to drive, because -- unlike the VW engine -- it doesn't lose all its power, when you rev it higher.

With this engines and this gearboxes, the Ford simply is the better ride of the two.

Although I have a feeling, that the Ford would still win my heart, if I compared the 200 HP versions of both cars.

To me it looks like an ugly steaming pile of shit, maybe because it is.

But of course... according to the finalgear members who take Jeremy Clarkson's word as the fucking gospel: "If it is a Ford then it must be brilliant".

I drive a Toyota, I am very good at ignoring a certain tall man with pubes for hair.

Maybe if you actually looked at recent Fords you'd notice people are impressed because they're ACTUALLY QUITE GOOD. Except the current North American Focus, obviously.

You have to live with the fact, that on the internet there is no editor or adviser, who keeps you from embarrassing yourself. Everyone can write and state anything without getting in the situation of having to stand up for or prove your claims.

Of course some people just write nonsense out of fun, because they like to be destructive. That's called trolling and is usually punished by negative reputation and/or banning from forums. However:

"When one of us does a foolish thing, you should tell them it is a foolish thing. They can still continue to do it, but at least the truth is where it needs to be."

This Ford looks bigger in pictures, thought is smaller in real life. I've been next to one and it's really short in lenght and height, so the fact that it's not made for tall people doesn't surprise me at all. I'd rather have one of these over a VW Tiguan, thought.

Alright, one more series of videos to go, then I'm finished with the Ford Kuga. I hope I' not bothering anyone with this but I really enjoyed dirving the Kuga around.

These following videos are more of a tour into the tourist areas of the Northwest German North See coast near my home tonw if Wilhelmshaven -- which of course in autumn are quite deserted. But that's actually good for the videos, because there are no tourists to conjest the roads.

Actually I made 7 videos as an ongoing, uninterrupted tour, but because of some stupidity I don't want to elaborate, 2 of them (the 3rd and 4th one) have been deleted :(

So here are the remaining five:

I always liked the Kuga's looks, but this close up review is great. The videos are pretty cool too. :) The interior and exterior look great and the interior materials look to be high quality, esp. to the small Ford crossover we get, the Escape:

Hopefully, we'll get the Kuga as a Escape replacement soon!:drool:

My initial reaction too, but after checking the facts it turns out that there isn't much difference between the Escape and Kuga at all.
Dimensions (L x W x H) in m:
Escape - 4.44 x 1.8 x 1.7
Kuga - 4.44 x 1.84 x 1.67

... and the Kuga is considered to be a small-ish SUV over here as well.

Well I guess it's the design that confuses me a bit then...

The Escape LOOKS big.

MacGuffin: You can get an interior colour package for the Kuga, you get a coloured stripe across the seats and a painted center console, it doesn't look cheap with that. We (car rental) had some Kugas with this package in orange, matched by the so called 'chill' exterior colour. That's like a blueish silver-grey. Looks brilliant with the orange highlights inside.

rickhamilton90210: I doubt they'll bring the Kuga to the states, even though it would probably sell well. I've only heard one complaint about the Kuga from my american customers, it was about the handling. They turned the car in after one day demanding a replacement because the Kuga did not drive like a SUV but like a car. When my employee asked me what to do I was like: 'That's a complaint?'

Well those people are just crazy, but sadly, probably stereotypical.:rolleyes: There is a sliver of hope though: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/02/report-ford-kuga-could-come-in-lincoln-mercury-flavors-replac/

If this is true, I could easily see a Kuga based Mercury Mariner in my future! :D:cool:

LOL at the 90210 reference too ;)

Good, that you didn't give them a Tiguan, because that handles even more like a car

They got a Mercedes-Benz B-Class instead. They were happy. Actually they still are, they haven't turned in that one yet.

A B-Class????

I hope not the B180 CDI? Because that comes with the currently probably loudest and most rattly diesel engine on the market. Seriously: In idle the steering wheel feels like a vibrating cellphone.

And it rides like a buffalo over streets with a warped surface. I hated that car.

Well, the B-Class isn't a real Mercedes to me. I have driven C-Classes, E-Classes, S-Classes, M-Classes and an SLK. Nope, the B-Class is not a real Merc. Neither is the A-Class. They are second cars for wifes of owners of E-Classes.

Yes, the whistle was annoying at first. But it wasn't as distracting on the long run, as you might think.
