Yes, 'too late to change now' is a major factor between having a whole user ecosystem built around that proprietary US plug standard, back when J1772 was just another plug type next to ChadEMO, and CCS fast charging tech didn't even exist at the time Tesla created their standard.

In way folks in Europe are lucky being late Tesla adopters due to the forced standardization of charger plug standards.
 
Did i hear correctly that you can just unplug ANY Tesla when it's charging, because they need an adapter thingy and thus cannot "lock" the regular charger in place?

Yeah at least there's a bunch of stories like this on the internet, even of people then stealing the adapter. but that sounds weird to me, because I'd at least expect the adapter to be locked to the car. and i think there's a newer generation of adapter that sort of passes the locking on to the J1772 plug... i think. bloody adapter shenanigans! :p

The adapter will remain locked into the car, both on my Porsche and the Tesla, but the main plug can be removed yes.

Had air suspension lowering links from Vivid Racing installed for a minor 5-6mm drop. Enough to look good but not slam it or compromise ride quality:
