Holy mother of god..its looks ok. How much did you pay for that thing??

What is that bubbly thing where it says Asus?? Never seen it before.

^^THAT GOES IN A COMPUTER SOMEHOW :shock: :lol: :shock: :lol: ! ^^

Yea, it's the ASUS Star Ice as Viper pointed out. Bloody noisy though, I can't leave my comp on overnight anymore

Starting to wish I'd have gone for the silent option:

Yeah I know what you mean. My brothers got one of those fan things in his and it makes the biggest racket. Its an ASUS as well.

Specs?

OS: XP Pro SP2;
CPU: Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.3GHz;
MoBo: ASUS A8N-SLI DELUXE;
Mem: 512Mb Corsair Value PC3200 w/ Akasa Heatsinks;
Cooler: ASUS Star Ice;
GPU: XFX 6600 GT;
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 200GB;
Drives: PLEXTOR PX-116A3; LG GSA4160B;
Sound: SB Audigy 2 ZS > Inspire T7900;
Case: Akasa Eclipse 62 w/ 2x Thermaltake Thunderblade
Monitor: 21" Sony Multiscan 300sf

I think that's everything.

Nice system, very nice, have the same hdd :eek:

Cept don't really get why u chose that ram though :p

And that asus heatsink is pretty shit :twisted:

heres my cpu cooling :

The ASUS fan is the best you can get before you hit watercooling, but I know what you mean about RAM, I was warned in advance, but I was too foolish and didn't have time to look into it. I still don't understand everything about RAM, but this month's Custom PC has a big section on it, so I'll have a good read and upgrade her soon :)

That ran you US$2k? Damn, I think prices in the UK may be higher than here.

PS: you really need to get a GB of RAM. ;)

I've read a few reviews about that asus things, all weren't too hapy with it. But maybe i read the wrong ones :/

I thought taht maybe the new zalman 7700 or the new thermalright hsf's were a better choice.

Not sure anymore.

ps, that ram is fine, next best thing, cept i'm not sure how well it'll overclock.

I know, I know. I have my eye on a gig of Corsair TwinX 1024-4400C25. But, knowing nothing about RAM, I don't know whether it'll run in my system. Can you guys tell me?

if i were u i'd add another stick of mem like viper said, the same mem. Then if u wanna overclock, just just a memory divider. No use lettingr the ram go to waste.

If your really serious about overclocking I'd go look for some ram with samsung tccd chips. Sell the stuff u have now, tccd ram Clocks really well.

Heres a list of modules that have these tccd chips:

Well, I've heard nothing but rave reviews about the Corsair TwinX 1024-4400C25 (despite its ridiculous name) - this one isn't too bad: http://www.madshrimps.be/printart.php?articID=254, but generally I stick to what my fave mag, Custom PC, tells me to, and it's telling me to buy this RAM if I want to overclock my system, which I do.

So, can you just tell me, will this work in my system, as things are so much more complicated since I started overclocking stuff. Before, if my system said get PC3200, I did, but now there's soooo much more involved :(

Overheat: That heatsink is freaking huge...:lol:...I can't believe the size of that thing.

I myself am running an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ with a Thermalright SLK-800 (A) which weights close to 400 grams, without the fan.

The Star Ice is 680g - I love it. Had dismantle my system entirely to install the bastard thing tho - grr...

no one has problems with baracuda hds?

i never had one, but i have plenty of friends who used to have one, but they all failed on day. they were only sealed with 3 screws or sth, and couldn't keep it airtight
