So, I did some shopping again. After barely even driving my W115, and it needing complete overhault to actually make the project go forward, I decided I should sell it. And my S class being in better condition than expected, I needed a winter car to save the S 500 from rust issues. After few weeks of spending time on Nettiauto this is the result.

It is E 280 T, originally sold in Germany, imported to Sweden in 2003 and now freshly imported to Finland. 311 000 km on the odometer, which is probably non-tampered. Service book from Germany until 2001, and Swedish inspection sheets from there on showing the annual mileage. Not fully specced at all, but enough to survive Finnish winter.

Biggest issue was the modifications. Nothing irreversible, otherwise I would have skipped this one. Rear wiindows were blacked out with removable tint, horrible smoker's plastics on window (no smoking smell luckily though, so maybe just installed for looks), terrible wheels and removed mufflers. The previous owner had bought it with a straight pipe, and installed an aftermarket muffler that doesn't help too much.

Tailgate is rusty, otherwise surprisingly good bodywork for an E class, these already had modern (worse) paint than earlier 124's so they are pretty prone to rust. I'll try to source correctly colored tailgate, should be cheaper than getting fixed the current one.

Dirty engine bay, not sure if I have the guts to wash it since the engine is known for electric loom issues, and washing probably doesn't help that.

Interior was terribly dirty, one cleaning round was far from being enough to get everything clean. I'll try again with better stuff.

Trunk after vacuuming but before washing:

After first round of washing:

Driver's seat worn out where they always are, before wash:

After wash, still not good:

Shitload of shit removed:

Terrible winter wheels, gave them to my little brother who has my ex-210.

Stereo was some bad JVC, so I threw it out immediately and replaced it with this:

Reconditioned Becker with cassette deck removed, and replaced with Bluetooth module. When the stereo is turned to cassette, BT module goes on and I can connect my phone to it. It also has a refitted 3.5mm plug in the rear, but I cannot really see any use for it due to the bluetooth. At the same time I noticed the electric antenna does not work, haven't had the time to check it further.

Speakers were in horrible condition, so bought a set of model specific speakers both front and back:

From ebay I also found this, a complete original style exhaust (aftermarket though), hopefully this takes care of the teenage sounds

Haven't remembered the proof pic yet, and I know none of you believe I'd buy an old Merc. Sorry for that.

Wagon, 6-cylinder, 5(!) speed auto and sport chassis. Even the rims are forgivable. That is one excellent winter beater. :)

Rims replaced with proper ones. Same that this came out of factory with but one inch bigger.

Looks proper :)

I think you should just cycle through every Mercedes sedan model over the past 30 years to keep the tradition alive lol.
