If anyone has access to scan, or a vector version of, the spinning gear could you send it to me please?

I have the font but vectorizing the gear myself is proving troublesome. I'm making DVD case art for all the Seasons with a description on the back of each episode. The cover, sides & back have photos of some cars featured plus a few screenshots. I'm also making cd labels to go along with them.

Once finished I'll happily upload them for us to share. But I'd like to make them look as professional as possible first & getting the logo right is the first part.

This is what I've done so far. The TG logo I have now is just for placement and I'm not done designing so the layout may change. On the back is the episode descriptions as it's written in the thread on this site. I plan to make one for each season complete with some screenshots on the back from different episodes. The spine reads "Top Gear Season #" w/the little BBC logo at the bottom so it looks as nice as possible sitting on your shelf.

My words exactly!

It sure seems nice. Have you looked on the New Site Design discussion? Or that kind of threads?

I was just wondering how you are planning on fitting the entire seson onto one DVD? I don't have any experience with that sort of thing so I was just curious. Of course I know you can fit the files on, but I thought that to use it in a DVD player it took up a lot more space for the video?

You can read the files if you have a Dvd/Divx Player. :)

I only plan on putting out a packet of Season 1-6 covers for the cases & dvd's. I don't plan on making CD's for anyone as it's not my time & effort put into encoding them.

But for my personal self I have a newer dual 2.3ghz G5 and it has a Dual-Layer DVD burner. So that's 8.5gb of videos. A whole season is about 3gb.

So you just burn a data disk then and the dvd players play it? I am assuming that my 3+year old dvd player probably wont play them... haha!

Yea, I used that to match the font.

What font did you match? I'd be very interested. I've heard it may be some fat bold italic version of Helvetica Neue but I'd be interested in hearing what you concluded.

Thanks

It could be easily done in vector if one had the time. I was looking for an actual vector version which is usually out there for any company logo.

There are a few sites & books that I as a designer have access to for logos and had no luck.

I can try to see if LiveTrace in CS2 will do it for me & make it usable.

The font I used is the Helvetica Neue that they use. I found it by trial & error with my collection. Then I found out someone from the BBC TG site is a member here & mentioned it.

Well what do you need to do with it? Cos if you just need the logo to stick into something, then I suggest you use this one:

Logo

Thing is, I know it's on a black background and all that right, but if you need to stick it over something light then you can use layers and then screen it. It will take out the black with no trace of residue such as:

August Calendar Alternative

I made that after bbc.co.uk/topgear made the alternate version of the August calendar but there is a bit of black residue on the thing so I made my version...
