Hi,

Ok, so here's the deal: I have a Sony Vaio pc and I have a router and cable modem connected to it. In addition to this, I have a usb wireless adapter which i use to connect to my neighbor's wireless network. The problem is that when I'm connected to my neighbor's wireless network and I connect my LAN connection at the same time, my computers uses the LAN connection and not the wireless connection i was already on. Any suggestions as to how I can totally use my wireless connection rather than my LAN connection? thanks finalgeareans....

1st: Using an unsecured internet connection isn't illegal, go check ur books...
2nd:He's my neighbor, and he knows im using his connection...

3rd: U wanna help?

Because there are other users on my LAN connection who are utilizing the shared folders as well as the internet connection

`My brother has to use the folders i have shared on my computer, so by disabling the Local Area Connection, The network will be turned off...

then why not use your own internet?... I believe LAN always takes priority over the wireless connection

Disconnect the modem from the router.

Disconnect the modem from the router.

Ok, so do i disable the LAN icon when i disconnect the cable or do I leave it on? Otherwise, my computer's connection fails.

Well, I have an idea. Since you can't disconnect the modem from the router (other computers on the LAN still need internet access), your only other option is to share files between computers wirelessly. You would have to buy a wi-fi adapter for your brother's computer and transfer files that way.

lol my brother has a laptop, the files were being shared wirelessly in the first place...

If you're transferring files wirelessly, then why do you need to be plugged in the wired LAN?

well, doesn't the wired LAN need to be connected to the PC so that the Laptop could use the files on the Pc via the wireless connection?

Mess around with those.

Move the wireless connection you want to access the internet through to the top of the first list you see, above the ethernet connection.

No. The desktop and laptop are connected to a wireless router, whether that's your neighbor's or yours doesn't matter. The wireless router is the gateway between the two computers, nothing else needs to be plugged in.
