New Bond Car Confirmed

LOL, a V6. The engine will probably be based on the Mondeo/Mazda6 engine. Unless it's twin turbo'd, otherwise I give it a  .

In fact...why not the new Aston 4-door...

That's like asking why Bond shouldn't have kids.

I consider the BMW 7 series in Tommorow Never Dies the lowest point in Bond car history.

Coupe (cabrio if you're female) is the coolest way to travel (if you're driving).

Lies.

Remember the Renault 14 in A View To A Kill?

It featured simply because it was front-wheel drive, meaning it could get sawed in half and still keep going.

And I'm sure in one film Bond was in either a Mini or a 2CV...

Agreed. As a "feature car," the 7-series was a joke. I was so disappointed, I thought it was a rental car or something.

Well, that's harsh! I thought the 7-series was cool because it looked badass for a sedan. And it got destroyed, to quit complaining! :x

And the 2CV was in For Your Eyes Only. That and the Renault 14 weren't actual Bond cars, but just happened to be driven by him to make a quick escape.

the 2CV in For Your Eyes Only was awesome! it just kept going

Craig does have a Bond look, it's actually quite similar to Roger Moore, who was a great Bond. Connery is the definitive Bond, the best ever, but I would consider Brosnan on equal footing. They are both Bond.

I am pretty stoked about this, a new Aston, a new Bond and a new movie, should be great.

Any word on a new Bourne movie tho?

I have to agree with that. About Craig, we'll have to wait and see how he performs.

I still think they should have stopped after the last one. A great way to close the saga, IMO.

Yeah, sure, right now this is what is known:

Title: The Bourne Ultimatum
Starts Shooting: 1st August 2006
Producer: Frank Marshall
Stars: Matt Damon

So, about a year till it's completed, I guess, provided they don't back off at the last minute :)

Where is everybody getting the rumour that the new DBS is a 6 cylinder car? I thought the DBS was going to be a four seater version of the current V8 Vantage. Maybe I was wrong. It might be a even smaller car with a Jaguar 6.

Casino Royale is planned for a November release. So the car should be ready by then. (Unless they pull another BMW Z3 or Z8 type deal.)

The concept sketch shows it to be a small two-door car. I suspect that if they want an I6, they might resurrect the supercharged I6 they used in the XJR for a couple of years.

if you read the thread you see that i never sayd that it WAS a 6cyl .. but i hoped it was a 6cyl .. like the old DBS
the original Vantage (a version of the old DBS) was the last inline6 from Aston untill the DB7

PS: the original DBS was used in the Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".. the George Lazenby one

Oh yeah, about Bond himself. There was some speculation that Brosnan turned down this film to make a couple movies so he wouldn't be typecast as Bond, and then ask for a higher pay for the next movie after this. Kinda like what Connery did.

There has been other talk, confirmed by Brosnan himself, that he was suddenly dumped, and that he was pissed for a bit. As for ending the series on Die Another Day, I'm grateful to the high heavens that it wasn't the last Bond film. Madonna and Halle Berry were terrible choices, and all those references to the old Bond films got tiring after a while.

As for the car, a DBS wouldn't be half bad as a choice. Bond would drive a gentleman's car, which is what his Aston should be, and whatever the DBS is, it'll be that. That's all he needs. No supercars, no boy racer-mobiles, just a true Aston.

EDIT: A tiny blurb on the Edmunds.com Inside Line news page suggests that the DBS will actually replace the Vanquish:

James Bond will be driving an Aston Martin in the next Bond movie ? and it's likely he will be launching the new DBS supercar, which is expected to be an update of the Vanquish.

Halle Berry was hot as shit, but I agree on Madonna and the references to past films. The Aston doens't need to be a supercar, but that's cool if it is! Just needs hella gadgets!

Well i just didn't like some gadgets...i mean on most the bond films they were functional (though didn't have working machine guns, but they would actually pop out and work) but come on...active camo?
