They have more left then they sold in all of 2014.
Yes, that is unusual. If you look at other halo cars, they are often sold out well before production ends, sometimes even before it starts. The LaFerrari was sold out well before the production started, same story with all of the planned production slots of the McLaren P1, the Porsche 918 Spyder was sold out in November last year.
 
unusual sure, but not surprising. it only has 550hp, and afaik the halo car market is mainly ran by numbers. especialy with "basic" ferrari V8 now having 670 bhp.

While it?ll cost $400,000 and only sell about 250 units per year, the Ford GT has stirred something in enthusiasts everywhere.

With its low-slung prototype-racer stance and promise of breathtaking performance, the Ford GT has put the supercar world on notice?though it?ll remain to be seen if it can put the lap times on the board to match the world?s best.

In these first spy shots of the car in testing, we see not just a stripped-down, unpainted GT in testing, we see something that we almost didn?t expect: something less than absolute secrecy in the GT development program.

?More than? 600 horsepower from a turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine, a carbon fiber and aluminum chassis and body, dual-clutch transmission, high-performance aerodynamics, pass-through tail lamps, and some truly striking design are the sum of the Ford GT?s recipe to date.

Differences from the concept car shown first at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show are subtle, but the most notable is the unfinished exhaust tips protruding from the center of the rear bumper. The absence of a rear diffuser to hide the mufflers is also another work-in-progress visual cue. Placeholder tail lamps also give a nod to things yet to be finished in the GT?s production development program.

Otherwise, however, the GT in these spy photos looks to adhere very closely to the concept car?s shape and style. With another year before we?re likely to see the final Ford GT ready for public consumption, we?ll be updating this space with more details as they emerge.

And yes, i would like if Ford wins over Rafaellos and Huraganos, but i liked the old Ford, no... [THE OLD FORD] *thunderstrikes echos* ...for how they didn't care about this bhp_over_weight competition.

Ford will this Friday announce its impending return to the Le Mans 24 Hours, taking the wraps off its new GT project.

The manufacturer has alerted media to a ?major Ford Performance news announcement? this Friday, hosted by executive chairman Bill Ford.

Expectations for a Ford factory Le Mans effort kicked into high gear in January when the manufacturer unveiled its latest GT road car.

According to American outlet Racer, the new program is likely to include two-car efforts in the full United SportsCar and World Endurance Championships.

The campaign will be jointly run by American team Chip Ganassi Racing, Canadian chassis firm Multimatic and engine builders Roush Yates.

Ganassi?s team currently campaigns factory backed Riley-Fords in the USCC, fitted with Roush-developed 3.5 litre Ford Ecoboost V6 turbos.

The Ford GT will also utilise the Ecoboost engine, which the manufacturer claims will produce more than 600bhp in road car trim.

A Ford product has not competed at Le Mans since 2011, when Robertson Racing endured a troubled campaign with an American-designed GTE version of the current generation Ford GT.

The 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours will mark 50 years since the first of four triumphs at Le Sarthe for Ford?s famed GT40.

Just watched the Press Release. Its back! I'm sure details will be coming out shortly, but Chip Ganassi will be running the new GT race car for the full WEC season and Le Mans 2016.

Ford announced today it is returning to one of the most prestigious automobile races in the world with its new Ford GT race car, based on the all-new ultra-high-performance supercar that goes on sale next year.
The Ford GT race car will compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans ? referred to by many as the Grand Prix of Endurance and Efficiency ? starting next year. Revealed today at the famous circuit in Le Mans, France, Ford GT will compete in the Le Mans GT Endurance class for professional teams and drivers (LM GTE Pro).

The new race car ? a further proof point of Ford innovation ? is based on the all-new Ford GT supercar unveiled in January. Both the production car and race car will arrive in 2016 to mark the 50th anniversary of Ford GT race cars placing 1-2-3 at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. Ford went on to repeat its victory at Le Mans in 1967, 1968 and 1969.

?When the GT40 competed at Le Mans in the 1960s, Henry Ford II sought to prove Ford could beat endurance racing?s most legendary manufacturers,? said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. ?We are still extremely proud of having won this iconic race four times in a row, and that same spirit that drove the innovation behind the first Ford GT still drives us today.?

The new Ford GT race car will run the full 2016 schedules of the FIA World Endurance Championship and TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, making its competition debut in January 2016 in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, Florida. The two Ford teams will be operated by Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS). Both series teams intend to compete with a four-car effort at Le Mans. Drivers will be announced later.

The all-new Ford GT serves as the pinnacle product of the new Ford Performance group, a division dedicated to providing innovation through performance.

Set to deliver more than 12 new performance vehicles by 2020, Ford Performance will leverage its racing efforts and expertise to speed innovations on dedicated performance models and performance parts in order to more quickly iterate the latest technologies that can ultimately be applied to the full Ford vehicle lineup.

The performance segment is a growing business for Ford, as the company recognizes its customers? desire for vehicles that offer excellent fuel economy, leading technology and a great driving experience. The race car has undergone extensive design and testing within Ford and Multimatic, with CGRFS providing input into the development. Roush Yates is supporting development of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 ? the most powerful EcoBoost production engine ever.

The 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine debuted in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship in 2014. Since then, Ford, with CGRFS, has captured significant overall wins at the 12 Hours of Sebring and Rolex 24 At Daytona. Besides great success in sports cars, Ganassi race teams achieved major victories in the Daytona 500, Brickyard 400 and Indianapolis 500.

?We?ve won races and championships, but we?ve never run Le Mans,? said team owner Chip Ganassi. ?When presented the opportunity to compete with the all-new Ford GT on the world?s biggest sports car stage, and on the 50th anniversary of one of the most storied victories in racing history, how could any race team not want to be part of that? Will it be a challenge? Absolutely, but we couldn?t be with a better partner than Ford.?
