Here's a thought for the league races.
Inspired by A1GP (or at least when i was talking with mxm about a1gp), I got and idea. We could do the following in our league races.
Instead of the current qualify->race according to qualify results, we can do:
1st, Qualify
2nd, A "sprint race", according to qualify results. This sprint race could be a short one, say 5laps. For this race we will also award points, the same way as for the long races (10-8-6-5-4-3-2, 1 for everyone taking part and completing at least 50% of the distance)
3rd, The actual, longer race. BUT starting in reverse finishing order of the sprint race.
Now, why all this "complicated" stuff?
To make the races more intersting.
How?
The faster racers, will obviously have a good qualifying time. So if they start in the front for the long race, hardly anyone will be able to catch them, and there won't be much action on the track. Instead everyone will be lapping his lonely laps. So, with the sprint race, faster people will have an easy chance to get points, however because of this easy catch, they will start at the back for the long race, and hopefully making things more interesting, as they try to make their way through the field, while pitting etc.
And anyway, we always make a lot of 5lap races before, for warmup etc, so its not like this is gonna make things much longer or that much more complicated. (imo)
What do you guys think? Did my idea actually make any sense?
