James May: New Lego & Meccano Engineering Series

^I'm making the spitfire in airfix!
It's really frustrating because the pieces don't fit properly at first, and some of them are really tiny
I thought my experience with kinder eggs would help  I was wrong

strangely enough after seeing that episode as well it was enough to make me go to the local model shop in the town center and look for a model spitfire as well. Unfortunately there's only the one shop here that sells models and it had sold out. the guy behind the counter had said that there had been a small spike in sales last week and he's been good enough to put a spitfire to one side for me when it arrives.

Last weekend James has been filming for the Scalextric episode.
That's the episode I'm most looking forward to, especially since this is what my guest room currently looks like...

^^^ That is cool as hell.

Finally watched the plasticine episode. Fantastic. Warmed my heart a little bit.

^^^ Cool ! It's amazing how much 1/64 track you can fit into a relatively small space.

My circuit has used most of the bends that I have, but I have *lots* more straight sections. If I only had the space, it could easily be extended onto four boards, maybe even six.

After Clarkson and Tiff in Duel, I'm surprised to see him with James in the Scalextric episode(from the trailer on the site). Again I start thinking he should join the TG trio

Just watched the plasticine Flower Show episode which was good but probably the least interesting for me of the series.

An impressively good effort from all the volunteers who made all the flowers and at least the RHS did the right thing in the end with the medal.
(At the beginning of the credits the garden also won a real award, the ?Peoples Choice for small gardens? which was pretty cool.)

Fusker with the ?WTF are you doing looks??
and 30 year old Moto Guzzi + Rain = Fail.

Next week Meccano, more my type of thing. :)

Standing outside the selfridges signing with mum, ian, ozgirl, lesley, sharon, gabrielle and misty, and if mr may is still looking at this thread occasionally that if anything I've said here has come across as a criticism of *him* then that was most certainly not my intention. Though it's probably best that the conversation we had about certain people involved happened way back in the queue...

Well, the signing's over, and despite being told there were to be no posed photos due to the size of the queue - quite understandable - the lego builders finally got the group photo we wanted with James, so we're all happy now. :)

Well it's on ozgirl's camera so I expect it'll be up - along with some car porn from mph - quite soon.

I've not heard from Niki, but I made it to Coventry. Apparently my car, while lacking oomph 55-65, will accelerate from 70 to 80 bloody quickly. I discovered this because I was in the middle lane overtaking a truck, with an audi up my chuff (why is it always audis on the motorway and clios in town?) when the truck suddenly decided to pull out. I had a post office van on my right, so the only way I could go was forwards. Now I just have to hope there was no speed trap there. Getting done for speeding within 2 months of passing my test would be ungood.

We'd love to see it here, Heidi, if everyone's cool with the idea.

Sorry guys, Iain, Lesley & I went for a bite, then (Lesley) decided to make hard copies of "the pic", just in case something happened to my camera - paranoid much ;), then had to drive down & have a "family" dinner with housemates and bore enthrall them with pics of MPH autoporn and Mr May! And then my stupid dongle kept flicking from 3G/HSDPA to GPRS!
ANYWAY here 'tis!

Doesn't that mean that Mr May's program's done what he intended it to?
In so far as introducing new people to Airfix?
this is what my guest room currently looks like...
