So another department at my dad's work gave his department a projector. I'm not sure why they handed it off, but I suspect it's because it weighs 500lbs (it's old) and they wanted to buy a newer, lighter one as it's meant for being carried around.

Point being, he brought it home for a while as they currently have no use for it and he wanted to test it out to make sure it worked and everything.

Well, I gotta say, playing GT4 on a 75" screen is mighty fun. I'd get it bigger, but I need to fine a wider room in my house so that I can back it up futher from the wall.

Pics coming tomorrow if I remember.

I wouldn't suggest playing video-games with a projector esp when it is against a wall and not a screen, because when I went to my teacher's house in HK, we asked why she didn't use to projector to play PS2?... she said she used to and it burnt her wall

Burnt her wall? :?

And I have a sheet hanging on my wall. Sure, light goes through it, but I think burning your wall thing is BS.

Burnt wall, BS and a bit sensationalist I think. Burning involves heat and fire, all I can think of is old paint that's sensitive to UV or something. I think if you use a sheet or a screen you'll be OK. If not you can always redecorate :p

Wohoo!

A friend of mine also has one... Only one grade below the Sony Qualias... Awesome big picture... We played NFSU on it ;-)

not burning the wall, I couldn't think of a word for it, its like leaving permanant marks on the wall, kinda like the black stuff behind a TV if your TV is against the wall... I can't think of an example, just make sure you don't shine it directly at the wall and it should be ok

I tested out a brand new projector (a viewsonic 2000 lumens of brigthness) for a friend and watched Top Gear on it directly on my white wall. No marks or anyhting were left. I don't see how it could possibly do anything to a wall.

Yeah I have a friend with a projector in his apartment, who doesn't have a problem with any marks on his wall after using his projector (after many hours of use on the same wall 500+ hours of life on his 1600 lumen lamp). The only possible way to have burn-in effects you can get from a projector may be on the LCD screen used inside the projector (which is very rare) but that should only appear when the screen is on. Now a projector surface makes the image much clearer and sharper, but thats all it really does.

projecting on the wall just means the picuture quality is not as good. thats why my dad got a screen

Burn ins are when theres an image left on the projector for a long time (like a stock ticker) and it's burned into the screen.....i'll post some pictures of the screen we have in our basement..... 125 inches

Ooo, gonna watch Monday's Fifth Gear on it.

but I'm pretty sure it was burnt in because she was playing a game and in games, images change too quickly or something like that... maybe I heard it wrong
