Next 911 Turbo to feature Variable Turbine Geometry

but i bet it will look the same as everyother porsche on the market! BORING!

we are not going to have this debate. there have been hundreds of threads where people start bitching about porsches.

this has no relevance what so ever toward how it looks

not a bad idea, but not really that great. but i suppose every little bit helps.

If they say that this turbo can mimic a twin-turbo setup, then imagine twin-turbo'ing two of these turbos. Hopefully they'll do it eventually.

Just hurry up and make the new turbo and GT2 so we can start drooling already.

How does it work?

Does it work by angling the blades of the turbocharger so you can change how much air is being forced into the cylinders?

First with DSG and active suspension, now this...Porsche seems to be doing whatever it takes to kill the F-430 with the 997 Turbo.

^^ i hope they work on the sound of it.. but they have small engines.. so its hard to compete with the f430 on that aspect

And I think they will. I don't think anyone will argue against that. Porshe has always been a thorn in Ferreri's wheels in terms of engineering and performance but Ferrari takes the cake with design/desiribility and a fun drive (from what I heard).

All Porsche has to do is to make them look a little more sporty and not so subtle. Not go the route BMW has done, nothing that extreme but a little change in the design, a REAL change, would put them atop of Ferrari.

IMO ;)

^ Tbh, I find Porsche design better than Ferrari one. But taste is subjective, so whatever floats your boat... :)

Two rolls of tools

Yeh and this thread is of no relevance to the way it looks..
The VTG turbo will allow Porsche?s flat-six to mimic a twin-turbo setup with a much broader torque curve and more flexible powerband than a standard single turbo could provide on its own.
Thats very boring to read but it sounds good

i'd still have the F430 though, dont know why. maybe its the fact that the 911 Turbo is the 3rd best 911. The GT3 is more hardcore, and the GT2 takes that to the next level. the GT3 will probably be as quick as the F430 is, but i'd still want the F430 regardless.

That sounds so...liberal. :p

Glad to see VATN technology is finally maturing. . . ack, anyone here even remember the VATN fad back in the day? Mmmm, I'm old. As long as they can keep the spinning mass down, I'm down for one. . . well, if I had a turbo car.

like the F430 will be the best
have no idea which ones will be released, but if you look at the 360, there will be several better versions

i'd go 911
