Before you ask and go looking around sites for today’s Top Gear torrent, I just thought I’d point out again that due to women’s soccer (aka football), Top Gear won’t be airing today. They’ll be back next week though as far as I know. :)

now i hate to be the ass and all...but shouldn't it be "Women's Football (aka soccer)"

since it's known as football/futebol everywhere else in the world...

Well the site is based here (my times, American spelling, etc.), so therefore soccer. :p

I don't use "colour" just 'cause they do in the UK. :p

 agree, it should be football

The English invented the language so they have the last word imo (or whatever you're supposed to say so as not to offend people :p )

i this soccer is more known and is preffered.... through my adventures in different countries, i heard the term "soccer" most...very few called it football.... don't why but thats the case.

has nothing to do with the UK thing...it's just everywhere else i the world it's football...not soccer...you can drop UK off the map, and it'll still be known as football ;)

True!

But, at least, in SoCal they sometimes call tabletop soccer "foosball", which is pretty close to football. ;)
In fact, it sounds exactly like the German word for soccer. It's just spelled differently, in German it's "Fu?ball". Dunno if the term "foosball" really comes from the German name tho...

American football should be called Handball! Look what they're using most of the time. :p

But Handball already exists. They can't go robbing names everytime...
It should be as we call it, american football, and soccer could be named "true football". ;)

Well, obviously they can!
But if they call it handball instead of football less people are affected, because handball is far less popular.

This is a pointless discussion.
Can you see americans admiting they wrongly named their game and changing it?

instead of "american football" it should be called "a bunch of sweaty jocks chaing around a pig skin while hotties in short skirts cheer them on"

that's more appropriate and I don't think any one else is using that name last time I checked, so it wouldn't be stealing either. And it solves the whole hand vs. foot issue too :)

agreed :)

It's still a waste of time, and the smilie was the most girly I had :tease:
