Notebook won't shut down

I can't normally shut down my HP G42 notebook, the only way to turn it off is by holding the power button for several seconds...


Anyone knows how to fix this?

Is it possible your power button's functions got re-assigned?

Can you be a little more specific? What happens when you click "shut down" - anything at all?

Have you tried updating the firmware?

I think a hammer will solve the problem.

When i click "shut down" the screen becomes black but i still can hear the cooler working...

My firmware is the latest one and i don't think that the power button's functions got re-assigned.
