Octopus Attacks Canada

Video is here:

And canadians are more or less Salmon people, not shark people. It's this sort of discrimination that warrents attacks such as these...

On a serious note: was that water jets the sub was using to get the Octupus off? interesting way of dealing with marine life that gets a slight bit ornary.

Yeah, the scientist hit reverse and it chucked a bunch of seabed at it. It's also worth mentioning that it was a ROV, not a human sub, as the article led to believe.

I'll have to ask you Americans to stop meddling in our foreign/aquatic policy. Canada has the right to exercise its sovereignty in its coastal waters, especially if it's senile Cthulhunoids. Our Salmon make up an important part of out heritage and industry - in other words, they're much tastier than octupus.

Canada will not rest until the Octupus Revolution has been quelled. Their terrorist submarine-humping activities are a threat that needs to be dealt with.

Er, yes, they used water jets. They basically threw the sub into reverse and hosed the octopus with water pressure and seabed debris until it gave up.

They are intelligent creatures who can negotiate mazes and learn to unscrew jars to remove food. No problem disassembling an ROV then.

:? wicked

Oh, they can do a lot more than just open jars, believe-you-me. I saw this one documentary where they filmed one climbing out of its aquarium, slithering across the room (out of the water, mind you), climbing into another aquarium to eat a tasty fish, then slithering back to its own aquarium once more.

Apparently, the octopus had been doing this for many nights, and it wasn't until the scientists set up surveillance cameras that they realised what had been happening to all the fish!

They have also been known to climb out of tanks and slither off ships that collect them. They learn to recognize thier feeders and can solve prety complex puzzles like unlocking containers for food. There are also several sepcies that can change shape to mimic other marine animals. They are very interesting creatures, but very hard to keep in captivity, they can actually die of boredom if you don't provide enough mental stimulation.

i also saw something similar about a aquariumthingy where their sharks were eaten, and no one knew by what, turned out to be the octopus.
and something else where they connected sev eral aquariums with tubes, some only 1 inch wide, it could squeese itself through. turns out that if his mouth can pass, the rest of the body will folow. basically they exist out of non compressable jelly, so you can stretch it untill it forms a rope, and then release it again, it will take it's original shape again

octopus rules

Why do we keep thinking that humans are the only intelligent form of life on this planet?
If anything, we are the dumbest!

Coll video, by the way!
