OFFS Jezza , Shut it!

Clarkson is a troll. He enjoys winding, annoying and pissing people off. If people ignored his comments he would probably stop. But they don't. They get all annoyed and think they are being offended.
Clarkson may be wrong but all this does is generate more press, the media gets to take on their moral authority, the daily fail gets to push on its anti BBC bias and the stupid continue feeding the troll.
If you don't like what he says. Ignore him, shut up and get on with your lives.

This is alot worse than usual, hope he hasn't done much damage to himself or TG.

Well done, Jeremy. You've managed to contradict yourself once again. On so many occasion he has claimed that "manual labor" is his biggest downside, and in all the challenges he is always depicted as a mindless, and incompetent fool who can't do anything right.

And now he has the effrontery to claim that while people are on strike, he has to "work" for his living. Yes, Jeremy, we know - you have the toughest job in the world.

Sheesh...I'm starting to believe he has taken humor above what's acceptable (both in public and in Top Gear episodes).

You misquoted him:
I mean how dare they go on strike when they have these gilt edged pensions that are being guaranteed while the rest have to work
He doesn't mention himself. Later in the program he went on to complain about how suicide by train slows down his commute.

If you take anything he says at face value, you are simply letting yourself down.

One word for you all: Kayfabe.

It's all part of his persona. Turn the cameras off and ask him what he really thinks, I seriously doubt Jeremy would say any of that.

Not to defend what he's said, but this certainly isn't the first group he's suggested should be shot/executed. While I don't necessarily agree with constantly trying to wind people up, I doubt his friends/family would really want anything to do with him if he truly believed all over these groups should be killed.

He's offended a bunch of groups. Who cares anymore? I'm so sick of people getting "offended".

Clarkson actually had the balls to say what a heck of a lot of us have been thinking about this for some time.

High time someone spoke up about these power-crazed leftist union leaders and their cries of "unfair" while those of us in the private sector have spent the last 4 years living in the shadow of pay freezes, redundancy and 3 day weeks. It is hypocrisy of the highest order, these so-called socialists who are happy to be so when it suits them but not when it affects them.

Well done, Jeremy. More of the same please.

I think all unions are the scum of the earth. They're trying to form one at work... I didn't realise I worked in a 1930's mineshaft.

The quoted part doesn't include why he said it. He'd previously something rather uncontroversial and vaguely supportive on the subject, IIRC, and then made a comment about the BBC having to be impartial so spouted his rant. Context is everything. And the context of this is that he was pushing his DVD (I think that's what it was, I wasn't concentrating on it).

JC in saying shocking stuff shocka!!

Seriously, the mans a child. He says this schtick to get a rise from stupid people who dont know their arse from their elbow. He's been doing it for years and it works every single goddamn time. Like he gives a shit what people are gonna think, you can see it in his face, he's having a laugh. Yet the same bunch of dunder heads continue to watch on, get all irate about it then are straight off to dailyflailingwail.co.uk to moan.

The worst part is the BBC drones being all appologetic for him, the beebs full of yoghurt knitting apologists!!! least JC had the sack to say what ever he wants and not tow the BBC line in PC bollocks. Good on him.

People just need to learn to have a chuckle when he makes an apparent arse of himself on telly. Dont take it so seriously. Besides, he's livened up a TV show thats about as exciting and interesting as wall paper paste hosted by two wet blankets.

It's generalisations that are dangerous. Some unions are so far left that they're coming round full circle to the right; others are genuinely there to support their members but will also advise when not to strike etc. Some public sector workers work their arse off; others sit on it all day, the same is true for private sector. Some bankers are good honest decent people; others are money-grabbing weasels who complain that their bonus is 'only' ?85,000.

Anyway, Jezza made the 1pm BBC headlines, and the report is on now.

OK so back to the OP. If you think what JC said are "gaffes" then you are naive. As has been said Jezza is the ubertroll when it comes to winding up those of a tofu-knitting persuasion.

Also bear in mind that Bedder 6, JC and Wilman's company has a significant (but not controlling) stake in TG and TG Live and that the show is a massive cash cow for the BBC which in these cash-strapped times they can ill-afford to lose. Even if they were to retain the show with May and Hammond the driving forces behind it are Clarkson and Wilman and you only have to watch TG at the Movies to see what TG could be like without the two of them.

Clarkson has done his friend David Cameron a huge favour. He basically said the same thing as Cameron did this morning and a large percentage of us who work in the private sector have been feeling for a while ie that the unions seem to feel they and their members should be immune from the recession and its current and longer term effects. And now the union leaders are clamouring for soundbites and making themselves look utterly foolish in the national media with comparisons to a man responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of his own people.
