this afternoon i went to an oldtimer/rockabilly festival!
previous years, all there was to see was a bunch of yank tanks, but i was impressed this time! several cool cars that came to visit!

let's start with an amficar!

i talked to the owner, and he has it registered as a boat as well, he ofter takes it to the water
it's got one engine, to activate the propellor he has to put the gearbox in neutral, and pull a lever to get them going
the front wheels act as a rudder, so you still have to turn the steering wheel

an old celica (manual!!) and an...euhm...i forgot :/

my head kind of exploded when i saw this arriving!! :woot:

talked to this guy as well, he has it registered as a daily driver (you can see by the license plate, if they start with an O, it's an oldtimer, if not, it's daily driver registration)
which also means that it needs yearly MOT, and he has had trouble every time. first they claimed that the spoilers and wings are tuningpieces, and here your yearly registrationfee is increased with every tuningitem you put on the car
they they gave him a hassle because the front and rear tires aren't the same size, and finally they didn't believe the car came with metal brakelines instead of rubber ones...
he has it bored out to 3.5l (it's the same base block as the 635CSI), and makes around 300 bhp

2 volvo P444 and an alfa spider

a mustang which has boss 302 on the side, and something yellow

a mustang with shelby logos and a shiny engine

a hearse...

plenty of bikes as well! first some BMWs...

2 cute flandria's...

ducatti, suzuki, honda, yamaha

a moto guzzi scooter!!

was driven by an older woman. talked to her as well, it's from 1951!!!, has 160cc, 3 speed gearbox, and and does about 60 kmh...

cafe racer honda

Sarolea!

a honda with V-engine? i had no idea they ever made those!

3 kreidlers on a row, where do you get to see that!

this thing is awesome!!

i have an engine laying around, lets make a moped around it!! :loll

the front light is from a train

even the catering vans are vintage!

cute girl arriving on a cute SS50

morris eight

escort RS1600

kadett, DS, beetle buggy and a 911

3 american brothers

don't think it's a real one...

2 red cars

and a very black one

there's no MOT on 2 wheelers in belgium, you can drive it in the state you want it :D

a morgan

bicycles with engines!

a firebird?

an alpina!

said MACH 1 on the back and the side!

another american arriving

GT350! (or at least the sticker sais so)

Are you sure you're a car guy? :p

The "something yellow" is a 1975-77 Chevrolet Camaro. Apparently the owner saw the movie Transformers one too many times and made it look like Bumblebee from the movie.

The "Firebird" is a 1962 Buick Special/Skylark convertible. That car was probably running the 3.5L V8. (This was before Buick sold the engine tooling to Rover, obviously.)

That white 1969 Mustang with the Boss 302 stripes looks ridiculous. For one thing, it's a coupe not a fastback. For another, it has the 1970 stripes on it. (The 1969 Shelby GT350 is probably the real deal. I can't say for sure though without looking at the VIN.)

I loved that A310 Alpine. Most of the ones I've seen were blue; the black is a nice change of pace and makes the car look mean. (Which, for it being French, is no small feat.)

i've never been able to be even remotely interested in american cars. sorry for that...

i can name most european/japanese cars
but i don't give a rats ass about those oversized US rust buckets

Thems fightin' words. But seriously... I'm not sure what's up with you uropeeans... Y'all can make a pretty nice car IMO, but when it comes to modifying american cars, you all seem to just do it very wrong.

that's the fault of the type of people that's interested in US cars around here. it's the kind that has no money, mends everything with a hammer and paint everything with a brush, it's extremely rare to see one done nicely.

Bone's ignorance never ceases to amaze.......

And people wonder why I'm cranky......see what I'm surrounded with every day?

No one forces you to stay here. Feel free to leave...

You would miss me to much....people like you, they need people like me, if only to have something to shake your head about.

Actually, apart from the slammed Plymouth Hearse on clown wheels I did not see a bad modification in this thread - and not at Race 61 either. JipJop, what are you referring to?

Speaking of Race 61 - Cowboy, care to join our gang last year? Get drunk and watch burnouts?

I can answer for JipJop, the '69 'Stang coupe poorly dressed as a BOSS 302 is a travesty! It's so bad, if it was brought to a Mustang show here in the States the owner would probably be asked to leave! I wouldn't mind a convertible dressed as a BOSS, but never a coupe (and not with a Mach I hood scoop, too).

The '68 resto-mod is passable though (save for the over-engineered shifter).

The '70 Mach I has a good choice in wheels, but on closer examination the hood sticker says 351 but the Shaker scoop says Cobra Jet (which would've been a 428 c.i. if I remember correctly).

The white 1st gen ('65/'66) looks good from what we can see and the '69 or '70 GT350 looks correct.

^i hadn't even noticed any of those things. you'll have a hard time finding a european who would know those things...

i'm more talking about cracked paint, worn rubbers, badly fitted chrome, ...
they all look good from far, but far from good, and i hate that!!

you would hardly ever see that on a restored italian coupe, if someone restores one like that, they do it well! (most of the time)

That's a matter of style, I think. Do you want a concourse-level "better than new" car or do you want one that's in good nick, but which shows it's age in the paint and trim?

[more details]
I see your point. I would have never gotten any of these things, though. Eventhough I am interested in American cars, the details of trim levels, model years and engine versions are completely lost on me.
