well, as I probably just put finalgear on chinas internet-blacklist, I would not be surprised if we don't hear from him for quite a while
I'm still here! They'll never catch me!
I haven't heard anything about doping, even from evil bourgeois Imperialist Western news sources. Maybe I'm just not paying attention.
Last night my dad and I trekked to Tiananmen Square after getting lost in the hutongs for an hour. The overzealous security forces closed off every street corner and forbade people to cross the street towards the square, so we had to walk through narrow alleyways instead of down Changan Street. We managed to get to the Egg (that weird Chinese Opera House thing) and then to the square, which wasn't as crowded as I thought. That was at 9.
The fireworks were going off at 11, so we decided to catch a bus to the pedestrian street, Wanfujing. When we got there, the China delegation had just entered the arena, so there was a massive crowd that suddenly erupted in front of a huge TV screen. It was funny seeing the foreigners suddenly surrounded by waving Chinese flags and realizing that it was a good time for them to head for the nearest McDonald's.
We tried to get back to Tiananmen in time for the works, but the damn police wouldn't let us walk 3 feet to catch a bus. Eventually we caught a cab to the nearest place near the square, one block away from the Egg. We ended up huddling on a sidewalk with about 30 other people, and then the fireworks lit up.
And the rest:
