Yeah, the mid-60's Stingray is still my favourite, especially the '67's you could get with a 427. Those cars were wonderful. There is one early 70's Stingray I liked, it had the 427 in it, but it was a really special race-version of it that had 550hp and could go 170mph! After that though, the legislations came in and said cars needed to be more eco-friendly and they lost a lot of power, Corvette's only had like 200hp for the better part of the 70's and early 80's.

True Stingray's IMO, were the 63's to 71's, the ones you could get with great, powerful engines, though the Stingray name stayed well into the 80's.

About the Corvette pictured, the hood is okay and probably provides extra ventilation inside the engine bay, which is good in my book, but the ground effects, wheels, and spoiler hurt the look of the car, a lot.

Quite a long post from me, which is rather unusual. :|

If it didn't have all that crap bolted on to it, I bet it would lift off like a hang glider at 200mph.

I kind of like it. 1200HP is good braggin' rights. I bet it'll smoke those ridiculous rear tires at just about any speed.

I may be in the minority, but I think the 68-73 Stingrays were one of the most original, adventurous styling exercises ever, especially for staid old GM. I don't like the over the top styling kits for these cars, although I was in love (ashamedly) with the Corvette Summer car below when I was a kid. Maybe it was because I liked Star Wars and Mark Hamill.
