Didn't mean to start "handbrake war" :p

.......etc. Also, you can't use it as an emergency brake since it's a lock (like the steering wheel lock) and not a brake.
........

What do you mean with emergency brake?

......
You should put it in Neutral first.

Hold brake -> N(eutral) -> apply parking brake -> release brakes -> P(ark)

so thats how it supposed to be made?
when/if i have to park on an incline, i just stop, apply handbrake, put to P, and then (after stopped pressing brakes) the car "creeps" half a cm :p

Hill starts are funky in a Twizy... its "automatic" doesn't creep, much like a Saab Sensonic. If you go off the brake on a hill you roll backwards if you don't prod the dimmer switch.

torq converters ftw :p

I mean... emergency brake.

If the foot brake malfunctions for one reason or another, the handbrake is your backup. Can't use P on the transmission for that.

oh ic, but since i don't trust the handbrake at all, i'll make a good video if the foot brake malfunctions.

It's that time of the year again.. Might as well give a progressereport! Since January the car has covered rougly 20800km and counting. It's been a flawless experience so far, except for the occasional breakage of retrofitted stuff. It's been all good!

Rick hasn't posted because he's too busy swooning, methinks

 Indeed. I can't believe I missed this thread. Dat color, those wheels. I love the T5 and wish we had it here.

Awesome!

So i managed to put it into a fence... Was turning a 110 degree left out of an intersection, and it went semileft and straight ahead on black ice and just scraped along the fence at ~15 kph :(

Gmaps link of the scene: http://goo.gl/maps/ZrTD7
Was coming from the left there, out on the main road straight in the image. The road really leans into the fence, which is great when you drive just on the main road. Not so much getting onto it. Was already on the brakes as the rears was out of the intersection, but it was too late to save. Just had to make the best of it.

:( Ouch, hopefully it won't set ya back too much to repair it....

Thanks. It's mostly an annoyance.

Of all the cars of yours to crash...

Larswey went over it with his magic fingers, at least it's not as noticeable now.

In other news, got the car back yesterday after my dad borrowing it for the easter week. Clutch is slipping noticeably when shifting 2nd-3rd. Fun times. It's at 35600km now, with service at 40k - will have them look at it then unless it gets worse.

35k and the clutch is gone?

It's a wet-clutch DSG box, the clutch should outlive the car. It could be that it has adjusted to my dads driving habits, i tend to drive it a bit hard. I'll wait and see. Currently it's very noticeable as it hits boost in third with throttle, it behaves like it's would from a standstill - shifts at 3-3100, holds at about 2500-2700 as it accelerates then completely engages and falls to ~2400. It should to instantly down to about 2000.

It seems to have adjusted a bit :hmm:, it's better in manual mode.

I've heard about this before with certain DSG cars... they adjust to one persons driving style and can feel really fucked up when someone else gets behind the wheel. But it shouldn't slip gears like that.

Yeah, I think the 850 also hit something with its nose? I'm reminded of that every time when I park the Saab's long nose in my parking spot, next to a stone wall. But I park with pressing the brake, selecting P, taking foot off brake and then pulling the handbrake (which I use year round on all my cars).

It slips the clutch naturally going into first, if you really step on it it will also do it going into second, because first is so short and you'd be stuck for many seconds without propulsion if it didn't. Now it's started in third.

Yes, the 850 hit some concrete as it creeped forward. If you park it like that you have constant tension on the P holder thingy. Not a lot, but if you do the handbrake first you'll have none. I just don't like the thought of my transmission sitting in tension.

I do make it as sure as possible to be completely still before shoving it in P. Selecting R is always with brake pressed and waiting for reverse to engage, before releasing the brake.
