Other Random Car Sightings [Photo Required]

Hmm, you said LS430 which means it's the old body. I thought you were referring to the current one.

I guess the guy wanted to be 'unique' and get different wheels, but he didn't want to pay for good rims and just got the cheapest optional rims from Lexus.

I like those wheels, but on the car they're mounted on. :)

Saw an SLK55 AMG turning at the lights today. No pic, as I was driving...but I can tell you that it was black and the guy gave it the beans when he took off. :woot:
That is pretty damn exotic for 'round here. In fact, it is only the second AMG Merc of any kind I have seen here. The other was an ML63 sometime last year, which also sounded awesome. We need more interesting cars here!

Talk about mixed emotions - I was cut up in traffic yesterday. By a guy in a dead-sexy black DB9.

Saw these a couple of days ago:
The new 7-series

and a Prowler(a rare sight here, love the way it looks)

There were also an Audi S6 somewhere in front of the Plymouth and an Audi S8 behind it, but I didn't take pics

Also, I have a hunch that it is stolen.

Jag E-type (not sure what year.. it was parked at my school though!!!) Can someone help identify it further??

Jaguar never went in for the whole "change everything every year" or "change the taillights every year" thing, so that doesn't work out if you're used to IDing cars based on that.

What that most likely is is a 68-70 E-Type Series II 2+2 converted to run the Series III (or XJ) hubs (Series II cars use knockoff - as in having a spinner that actually holds the wheel on - wheels, those are Series III bolt-ons). Such a conversion is popular with those who actually drive their E-Types on a regular basis as switching back and forth is easy and wire wheels are a huge pain in the ass to maintain. It is *probably* a repaint as I cannot recall ever seeing or hearing of an E-Type painted that particular shade of blue.

It's possible that it is a very rare Series III 2+2 4.2L - the only way to tell for sure is to see the front of the car; though what I can see of the front wheel arches tells me that it is most likely a Series II. Either way, the 2+2s are the least desirable and therefore the cheapest of the entire E-Type range. They can be had for $15-25K in good drivable shape.

If I were in school and my parents told me that I could spend $20K on a car.... yeah, a used E-Type might be on my list. :D

Cheers, Spectre for that comprehensive overview :D

next time it is there, i'll try and get the front!!

^ The Jag is an XK-R

Specifically, a 2005-2006 XKR or an earlier XK with a bodykit/nose swap - those were the only ones with that revised nose *and* a grille with the bumper beams inside. Could tell you more if I could see the tail.

It's a bit on the rare side as it is a coupe - most XKRs and XK8s were convertibles.

Sorry, thats the only shot I could get, but thanks for id-ing the car.

I was more stunned to actually see an Espada here in Aus, let alone out in the open.

looks like the new Mazda 3s have arrived in town. My neighbour across the street is a mechanic at one of the Mazda dealerships, so that's why he drove one home today. (and, no, I'm not going to walk up their driveway just to get a picture of the big dumb smiley face)

NO!

pfft, look how close it is to the other 3 anyways. :shakefist:

Damnit, why did Mazda have to go and bring Altezza lights back?

Also, mechanic or not, who needs 3 almost identical cars?

The guy probably just brought the new Mazda3 home for the day or something, it has dealer plates. I was just mentioning it was funny seeing three generations of the same car on one driveway... you didn't have to take it so seriously again.

I was walking down Flinders St yesterday and this Maserati Granturismo went screaming past, doing maybe 80 and getting faster. It sounded SO SO SO good.
