No badges, but the big brakes with AMG calipers told me this wasn't just a poser...

Was just driving up the road in Pittsburgh in an F150 and saw this..

Oh, and I'd just like to add, the two kits I mentioned above are the more affordable ones. They both have fiberglass bodies. If you want the best of the best, you go with the Kirkham kit: http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/products/427-style

^ Theirs is hand-shaped aluminum, just like the original, and probably the closest to a real brand new Shelby you'll get without a time machine. DEFINITELY not cheap, though: http://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/pricehome/price.html

EDIT: Here's the article I was looking for: http://www.insideline.com/ford/shel...-build-50-special-edition-csx8000-cobras.html

The aluminum version's body is supplied by Kirkham. So yeah. And these are considered real Shelby Cobras, though the purists tend to look down on the fiberglass ones. These "new models" are considered the "continuations."

Superformance builds repros (and I think they're licensed in one degree or another from Shelby). It's been about 5 years since I read about them but I think the rolling chassis is made in South Africa and you add your own engine/tranny, with most people choosing Ford 427 crate motors. I worked for a guy who bought 2, one for himself and one for his dad.

Superformance (SPF) still uses fiberglass. And for the money, I'd go with the other kit makers. The "Shelby licensed" deal adds way too much money to the equation. Then again, this is all just peripheral knowledge to me. If you are seriously interested in one, or at least learning about them, I'd go straight to the experts: http://www.clubcobra.com/

rolls royce silver wraith drophead coupe? (with extended booth)

rolls royce silver wraith drophead coupe? (with extended booth)

I'd say the grille is nowhere near vertical enough for a Rolls. The extended boot is the car behind the trailer

To me it looks very much like an MG TF.

Looks like a kit car.

That is what I thought too and it is too small for an RR.

Looks like a kit car.

Ah, could be and the convertible roof looks new, in fact the whole thing looks a bit shiny and new.

Either way, whether new or repro kit car, the style looks 1930's or maybe post war continued production.

Doesnt look English or Italian, but could be I guess, err.. maybe French?

(Not very helpfull really.)

It appears I have parked next to Oliver's son.

Haven't seen many of those around here. Pretty beaten condition, but I sort of like the paintjob :)

Riley RMC (Wiki)

OK, having said it doesn't look British, turns out it could be.

It looks like a Riley RMC, made 1948-51 in the midlands of England.

The photo looks like it has a blue diamond badge at the front of the radiator. The bonnet/radiator mascot looked at first like an Alvis, but they have red triangle badge, not blue. (The bonnet mascot pictured is probably an aftermarket add on and could even be an Alvis one of the period.)

Matching the unidentified photo, the front bumper has four chrome overriders, plus the stylish cut at the top of the doors and finally the drivers side has two horizontal, chrome flutes on the lower front fender.

So it's either a really accurate replica or looks pretty close to me to a Riley RMC, unless anyone has a better match.

AH! You beat me to it!

Those late 40s/early 50s Rileys have a distinct front end I can spot a mile off. :)

Ah good, thanks. (Blue diamond badge on radiator, yes?)

What did you make of the bonnet / radiator mascot?

saw the Google street car driving past my house today when I was walking out to my car

About a year ago a street view car slowly went past me on a main road while I was underway in our company truck. I had a close look at the cam for some time. Sadly only a small part of Switzerland is visible on Street view so far (because of legality disputes in some cantons), but I'm pretty sure some day I will see my blurred face together with some free advertisement for our company. :D

The bit I recognise is the way the headlights are incorporated into the wings but sit forwards of the radiator grille. :)

The bonnet mascot is odd and threw me off a bit, but being in Switzerland there is a good chance it has aftermarket parts or is a unique European spec.

I'm already on Google street view...twice. :D
