Cadillac 355 looks good, but still not sure. Maybe someone else will know what it is.

Why is this the worst variant of the 308 XJ?

The XJ Sport is an XJR without the XJR drivetrain - you know, the thing that separated the XJR from the rest of the model line? It has the styling cues, the wheels, the internal and external XJR appointments, the XJR suspension settings... But it had the base car's V8 and gearbox plus it cost almost as much as the XJR. So you have a body making promises that the engine simply can't fulfill, in a car that was ~$85K when you could have the real XJR for less than ten percent more.

Or, put another way, it was kind of like getting an M3 that BMW stuck an unmodified 128i motor in and then made you pay 95% of the M3's original price for the privilege of owning such an abomination.

Fortunately, few people fell for it back then and it was taken out back and shot after a couple years.

If the prices were that close it makes you wonder how thick someone has to be to buy one instead of a proper XJR ...

Especially these days if you buy used, when the classic Jaguar "resale value plummeting like a rock hurled down from a cliff complete with rocket boosters to increase downward velocity" phenomenon means that there's just about no difference in price between the base car and the XJR.

The difference in years would easily account for the price difference.

997.1 Turbo, as it appears to have some aftermarked taillights fitted. Those are not the original LED ones from the facelift.

Actually, as far as I am concerned, 6-speed 997.2 Turbos are quite rare since everyone sicne then went with the PDK, resulting in Porsche not even bothering to offer a manual for the 991 Turbo. :(
