Other Random Car Sightings [Photo Required]

I saw a familiar shape park up at the supermarket. Prosthetics beige and owned by a sweet elderly couple, like every 90. I wouldn't be surprised if they bought it new 30 years ago. A window sticker proudly proclaiming that Saabs come from Finland, and a 5 speed badge. The plate beginning with V means that it was registered new in this area, because that's how license plates worked back then. Many of these were sold to pensioners. Some are apparently still driving them to this day.

In the mid 80's, Saab combined the front half of a 99 with the rear half of a 900 saloon and called it the 90. I read somewhere that they just picked the tools that were the least worn and this is the combination they ended up with. You could choose color and if you wanted a fifth forward gear in the manual box, and nothing else. You got two doors, a carbed slant-four and some headlights and that was that.

Well, Helsinki, one of the southernmost cities in Finland, is about 2000 km/1200 mls more northern than Cleveland, one of the northernmost cities in Ohio, there is bound to be snow early-ish.

It?s already melting! It?s like springtime already. :)

Finding a well-cared-for basic older car always makes me smile!
Thanks for sharing.

Oh, and I see that snow has already come to visit you.

SL

I agree, seeing something so basic being cared for is something I truly like.

And the most southerly part of the UK Mainland is still further north than Gander, Newfoundland. Thank FSM for the Atlantic Conveyor!

A Tesla Model X 100, with a Prius parked too close.

.. only the second one I've seen in the wild.

(Taken on a new "old" Nokia 3310, so quality not so good.)

Derp! Corrected. My uncle had a '63 Meteor with the 6 cylinder and two speed auto. Dreadfully slow

No worries. I only noticed because of the license plate on the front.

Dad had this 1964 Comet:

It was before my time, but I'll bet it was quicker than a stocker. :D

Saw this proper Rally Golf Mk. II parked at uni. The guy was just parking and walking away but sadly I wasn't quick enough to reach out to him. Turns out, it's the guy who runs Zeroundersteer whom I've been following for years now. Cool car, even cooler to rally it with his gf.
