Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a photo of the 1956 Chevy Nomad that drove past while we stopped for lunch.

Lincoln Mark VII. It's based on the Fox Body platform. Was even available with a BMW diesel engine.

Dodge Dart, I think. Early 1960s by the look of it.

GM Wagon, but from that angle I'm not sure if it's a Chevy, Pontiac or Buick. Maybe GRtak would know better than me.

The taillights tell me that is a third generation Chevy Caprice wagon(77-90).

It also could have been an Oldsmobile from that generation.

A much more uncommon 2nd series Lancia Flavia Berlina.

'62 only body style.

That is a Ford GT, not the GT 40. The GT 40 is the original, the GT is the newer car patterned after it.

Looks like some kind of kit car to me.

Is it not possible in Switzerland to check what kind of car it is registered as using the license plate number?

^ No. You can get the owners name and adress that way (no anonymity = better way of behaving), and the general type of the vehicle, but not the exact make and model.

OK, here in Sweden almost all the data about the car is freely available on the internet. But the data about the owner is not supposed to be readily available. But you can request the data from the licensing agency. If the car is owned by a company the data about the owner is readily available as well.
