Our Audi S6 came today

Lovely jubbly - great choice. More pics and mini review would be nice. What do you think of the interior? Audis make nice understated and classy ones IMHO.

 You lucky bastard... WIll you ever have the chance to drive the beast?

Yup. The parents are going out of town for a week.
They're going to Italy and even visiting Maranello    .

Well, welcome (to you and your family) to the "club". ;)

Okay, it's not an RS4 (still can't justfiy the jump in price from the S to the RS), but Audi's are damn fine cars!

I didn't know you're supposed to run it for longer periods of time, though.
This is a general thing for all cars. Long trips > short trips.

the biggest reason for this is that longer trips = more heat = more moisture evaporates = less is trapped in the engine = less corrosion and rust

in terms of engine break-in, make sure to follow the owner's manual exactly. the first 5000 miles will have the most dramatic affect on the longevity of the engine, an improper break-in will be bad.

my largest experience with engine break-in is with air cooled porsches and 2-stroke engines. with both, in addition to using a varied throttle (don't maintain engine speed for very long) and not exceeding about 1/2 - 2/3 full throttle, i have also been advised to make sure to use dino oil vs synthetic oil, as the synthetic tends to be TOO good at lubricating, and thus reduces the ability of the piston rings to seat properly, thus a break in with synthetic can result in lower post-break-in cylinder leakdown pressures than a break-in with dino oil....

...just fyi :) but make sure to check with audi about their recommended break-in. many higher end manufacturers are actually running in engines (especially limited use engines like this v-10) for hours prior to even putting them into a car, so they are in effect already broken-in when you buy it.

Niceeeee car!

Whats with the LED foglights? Different from the black S6.
the second picture is an S4 and the third is the last-gen RS6 ;)

The RS4 was atctually the first thing that caught my eye when i took photos.

hopefully the parents will take the A3 to the airport which may mean that I get some pictures for you all.

i meant the 1st white audi and the 2nd black audi...

The white S6 that Jacobfox's family owns has the LED foggies, that's just the way Audi went w/ the A/S6. And that huge lump at the front is the same V10 the Lambo's get...yes....oh yes (not the same output and such, but the same "core").

The 2nd picture is an RS4 which is based on the A/S 4 which has the standard foggies. They are not moving the LEDs to the A/S/RS 4 until at least the B8 body (probably 2008), if even then.
